If you're invited to someone's apt for the first time...

do you automatically bring a gift?

My best friend is having a dinner party and she was actually kind enouh to invite two of my friends in addition to me and FH. I'm going to bring a zucchini pie, but I was wondering, should I bring anything else to congratualte her on her new apt? What should I bring? I can't really afford much, so I don't know!

I had to decide against the candle b/c I'm goign there on 2 trains. and I'm already carrying food.So I just bought a container of these really delicious cookies instead. Also I have a small pillow I never gave her from Disney World.

i also like to bring a decorative soap or something. flowers are nice. decorative magnets, a cd, like jazz for summer nights or something like that.
