IM AFRID OF AIRPLANES

And I have to book a flight to go see my grandmother :( and probably my honeymoon :( Any suggestions of what I can take to knock me out on an airplane? I SERIOUSLY HAVE THE BIGGEST PANICK ATTACK AS SOON AS I GET TO AN AIRPORT


These are the things that people told me would work... AND THEY DIDNT WORK FOR MEEEEEEEEEEEEE I WAS FREAKING OUT EVERY TIME I HAD TO FLY LOL

Xanex - my dr prescribed this to me but someone told me the dosage might of been too low and thats why it didnt work???!!

As the dr for a different med similar to Xanax or a higher dose. ETA ,like Valium may work better for you, it's very similar but the half life is different.

Tylenol PM and Benadryl have the same sleepy ingredient so if one didn't work, the other won't either... and niether will any other OTC sleeping pill. They're all the same.

Best thing is to go to the MD and ask for a different prescription.

What XAnax dose were you taking?

I think it was like .25 or .5

It was also generic because I forgot to have her check off DAW on my rx - I dont know if its in my head or not but I feel like generic meds dont work for me Sometimes.

.25 is THE minimum dose. When you go to the MD, ask for a 1mg dose... just for the airplane.

The generic should work just fine. XAnax is such an old med, almost no one takes brand name anymore, we don't even stock it at our pharmacy.

ETA, and take it like half an hour to 45 minutes before you get on the plane if you're not doing that already.

No I dont take it 45 minutes before I actually take it right before we board

I'm so happy you posted this because I am the same way and FH and I are planning on going to Italy next year. I already told him I'm going to need something to knock me out!

I know- Ihope we find something - I started flying alot a few years ago and sucking it up (I would just try different things until I found something that works) but last year there was a crash every minute and now I've gotten even worse

im not afraid to fly, i just hate being in a plane,car, room lol anything for too long.

I think i'm gonna lie to a doctor and ask for something to knock me out too LOLOL

it's a 6 hour flight to Mexico, i wanna be out out out

No I dont take it 45 minutes before I actually take it right before we board

Valium is int he same class as Xanax, it's similar and it's for anxiety. It's not necessarily stronger but if Xanax isn't working, it might work better for you.


Ask your Dr whether she thinks you should try Valium (Diazepam) or whether you should up your dose of Xanax. But definitely one or the other. There isn't anything that will work better to help you, you just have to find the right dosage.

There's aslo Klonopin (Clonazepam) and Ativan (Lorazepam) in the same, but I don't know if those would be appropriate for you . The best thing to do is ask questions and expres yoru concerns to your Dr. so she gives you what will work best for you, don't be shy.
