Hey y'all, former 2004 bride here and my sister is newly engaged! Possible 2015.
Looking into venues for her-- maybe along the less traditional lines like a barn or loft type. She's not sure if she wants do go the hall route or location only and bring in a caterer.

Must accommodate 200+

The milleridge cottage all the way! Defintely has that rustic feel, with a HUGE ballroom at fits almost 400 people and all hardwood floors. One wedding at a time too.

I would suggest Westbury Manor!

If she wants very untraditional I suggest The Foundry in Long Island city

It's a rentable venue so you need to have a seperate caterer but its very industrial/loft look but still very warm and rustic. Just gorgeous. It wasn't do able for my wedding but so am determined to have a party there one day! Lol

You could check out Old Field Club in Setauket or Hallockville Farm in Riverhead

My FSIL is getting married at the Queens County Farm Museum next August! I'd definitely have her look into it!

This! The Foundry is also a really great space if you want to bring in your own catering, etc. Or a vineyard?
