Going back to the cell phone issue -

I take public transportation to work and people on the phone are the worst...

Anyway one night, while people are chattering away the lady a few rows in front of me starts reading her paper aloud. It was so funny! And the best was the woman next to her on the phone said 'do you mind I'm on the phone?'

You definitely get stories from public transportation -LOL

I actually once got so annoyed I called Jim and said really loudly 'Im sorry babe, what was that? I couldnt hear you.. Can you imagnie.. other annoying people speaking louder than me when im TRYING to make a call.. yeah.. '

I also have a whistle... like the ones coaches have.. I got it at some stupid fair.. it has a logo on it..still one guy started to tick me off and i was ----->this<----- close to using it.. just to see what would happen.

I think the LIRR should have Quiet Cars.. where no cell phone usage is allowed.

Classic!!! I love it!

I read a Dear Abby about cell phone ettiquette stories. Some one wrote in that there was a woman talking on a phone about someone else using their first and last names - not nice things either. So her daughter went up to the woman on the phone and said I happen to know so and so, do you want me to give her a message from you?

Normally I don''t care if people speak a different language, except in instances like this:

I was getting a BM dress fitted and the lady was speaking english to her daughter, then I asked her to hem the dress because it was too long. She aksed me what length, it doesn't need it, even though i had stepped on it several times. Form that point on she was speaking italian, and then she says in english, but the color looks nice on her. Well what was the rest, how everything else didn't look right?? I was so annoyed, we could tell she was talking about us in italian, she was pissed becasue the dress needed alterations, and she didn't agree. The sleeves didn't fall right, the hook on the skirt was held on by one piece of thread etc.

The language thing:

Well I'm sorry but it just ticks me off. If it's only annoying I let it go.. but if it's a vendor type person who's supposed to be paying attention to me I normally make it CLEAR (by standing with my hands on my hips or walking away with merchandise) that if you're not going to speak english I'll go elsewhere. If they are too stupid to get that message (and a good majority are) then I just point blank say it 'Please, speak in English I find it rude that you are not'. Mostly they do.

In Chinatown (with Jim) I walked into a store. The lady kept a smile and eye contact with me until I spoke. Then she literally looked down at her hands and turn around and slowly started to creep away from me.. like I had a disease. I mean fine.. you don't speak english but why should I feel that you think Im scum because I do? It is my country after all.

I prefer PB. When I make A PB-J sandwich, I only put a tiny bit of Jelly, so the sandwich isn't really dry.

How about when people can't even WRITE in their own languages?!?!

Like, using 'there' instead of 'their' or using 'your' instead of 'you're'.

Personally that offends me way more than a Spanish person who chooses to speak their native language in America.

I also don't like all the abbreviations - it's horrible what happens to the English language -

Example of an email from my 15 year old cousin -

'So what R U doing 2morrow? C U lata.'

Hello? what is that? I also hate when the music industry does that too!

A question to the teachers - do these kids write like this in school or is just an internet thing?
