I'm confused (like that's a big surprise)

So my mother slipped, and now I'm thinking my shower is next Sunday ... But I stalked my registry today, and nothing's been purchased!

**Here is the back story to my moms slip-up: I was talking to her and asking about a family member, and my mother goes 'Linda can't come, her husbands taking her out for her birthday'. Now, I explain to my mom how easy it is for me to find out her birthday, and she nonchalantly responds 'its June 12'. Are you kidding me, Ma??? She cant come to the shower because her husband is taking her out for her birthday June 12, and you don't realize you just gave up my shower date??

Now, don't get me wrong, I know that it's NOT about the gifts - all I really even care about (when it comes to the gifts) is my ribbon hat! I'm just confused, because if my shower is a week away, at least there should be some things purchased, right?

Could it be? Did my mother actually fool me?? Or am I gonna have one big empty table at my shower? haha

Never underestimate the power of MOM!

My mom sent me 5 different invitations to different parties to try to throw me off. Granted that all the parties were fake, but one definitely threw me off and I would have bet my life that that was the day of my shower, but it wasn't!!! So at this point in time, I would say that you shouldn't think twice about it (I know that's easier said than done) and just let it happen! Mom's are sneaky little devils...I swear my mom was planning my whole life for this little surprise and I was kinda happy to let her have her moment!

Haha, that's awesome!!

My mom is always terrible at keeping secrets or surprises! I always figure out ANYTHING and EVERYTHING she hides from me! In fact, I was actually kind of upset that the surprise was ruined, so if she did finally manage to throw me for a loop, then it's cool, you know?

See the way I looked at it was...why stalk?! You registered for the gifts so you know what you're getting!!! I guess my surprise was who was the big spenders and bought the big items and who were the cheap-o's and got away with just a spatula (and trust me, someone just gave me a set of wooden spoons...not great ones either)!!

You know it's coming between now and August 26th....relax and try to enjoy the nice weather

Maybe she meant that her birthday is June 12th, not that's when her husband is taking her out. We never go out on anyone's actual birthday....

My mom let me think I had planned my entire shower (which I thought was going to be July 8th.) I had told them there was no way they could surprise me since I live out of state and would be starting a new job...they threw me for a loop 11 MONTHS before the wedding and had my LI shower in November...I thought I was going to a 40th wedding anniversary....also, I am a HUGE registry stalker, so my mom and cousin replicated my registry under my CATS NAMES....and my poor cousins husband was given the job of making the weekly changes to it since I changed my mind on things like nobody's business...lol

Don't put it past them to truly surprise!!!

She definitely probably tricked you!

My mom told me my shower would be in June. My parents 30th anniversary was in April so my two brothers and I were planning a small party for them at Bennys. My older brother told me we had to go to Bennys to set the menu. We walk in, my brother shakes the guys hand, then pushes me into the room. 'Surprise!' It was my Shower, in April!!! Needless to say, a part of me was a little disappointed I wasn't able to really plan a party for my parents. However, I did enjoy my shower and cannot believe my mom pulled it off with being a secret for so long!
