Re: i'm debating the receiving line...
We are so not doing it. We feel it's a waste of time. However, we are getting married at the reception hall. But even if we weren't, we still wouldn't do it.

i'm not doing one - we're having ours at the hall so there really won't even be any room for it

I'm not doing it. During the cocktail hour, we'll be doing pictures. Hey if LIW's come to the ceremony, I'll make time for them

Re: i'm debating the receiving line...
I am doing it - and only because I have a TON of time in between (believe me, not everyone is happy about that) but anyway....our ceremony starts at 4 and the CH is not til 8! But in your case I think its tighter than mine, but not completely un-doable. How does Ray feel about it?

ALso doing it---tons of time in between as well and a really good friend didn't do it and totally regretted it since she never made it to everyone at the reception no matter how hard she tried! I guess it depends on the size of your wedding and just want you want of course

Re: i'm debating the receiving line...
Being the last of my friends and family to get married I've taken a lot of their advice in regards to time/importance issues during the day of. I've been set with one venue, no receiving line, all pictures before hand, meet and greet at the cocktail hour and FH and I do whatever we want at the reception. We are also cutting tha cake when salad is served so we can get all formal shots done with.

Re: i'm debating the receiving line...
I did it and I didn't have a lot of time. We didn't have a large wedding and not everyone comes to the church.
I never would have had the chance to STOP the line for my LIW girls!!! That was a great moment!

I am doing it. I feel it is a very nice gesture, and gives the people who do come to the ceremony a feeling of being special.

Re: i'm debating the receiving line...
We won't be doing the recieving line as our ceremony is at BCE... So after the ceremony, we'll take pics, hopefully make it to some of our cocktail hour and then to the reception and we'll make our rounds there.

Re: i'm debating the receiving line...
TRUTH #4…RECEIVING LINES WASTE TIME After all you will be seeing each of these guests at the hall anyway, right? Why throw away as much as 20 good minutes that you could spend at the cocktail hour.
I have to tell you, I don't know if I agree to this. We did it and it took pressure off of getting to every table at the reception...gave us more time to dance, take pictures and chat longer with each person that we really wanted to chat with.
Please keep in mind though that my wedding and reception were at the same place.

Re: i'm debating the receiving line...
Def doing it, if your having a church ceremony MANY people who are NOT invited go there and its IMO RUDE not to say hello and have a receiving line and thank them for coming! We are however just having our parents and us NO BP to save time.

Re: i'm debating the receiving line...
I am totally not doing a receiving line. I would like to, but I'm not. My timeline is so tight. I'm gettng married at 10:00 and my cocktail hour starts at 11:45 (I know I KNOW). There will be no time to waste 20 minutes shaking hands. We still have to take photos at the reception site so I'd rather mingle at CH and reception.
