I'm about to EXPLODE. F-ing JT's parents FINALLY said they'd pay for a rehearsal dinner for us, you know, since they're not paying for ANYTHING AT ALL for our wedding and his mother IS NOT BUYING A DRESS...so where do they book it? Well at a place that I told them I got food poisoning from, AND a place that is a steakhouse, knowing I don't eat meat. ONTOP of that, JT's mother told him that THEY REFUSE to pay for an open bar, everyone has to BUY THEIR OWN DRINKS I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO pissed. So now MY WONDERFUL FAMILY THAT IS PAYING FOR ALMOST ALL OF OUR WEDDING has to buy their OWN drinks? That's SOOOOOO F-CKED UP I can't even imagine it. I'm paying for the ******* open bar myself. There's NO REASON IN THE WORLD why my family should have to pay for their drinks when these miserable people have done NOTHING else for this wedding.

Re: I'M FUMING....Am I overreacting?
He is terrified of his mother and would NEVER in a million years cross her Where's the vomit emoticon when you need it? I asked him if he said something to her and he was like, 'What was I supposed to say?????? I can't be like that!' Yet, he has no problem taking a crapload of money from my parents and delegating where it goes and how it's spent His mother paralyzes him. She's kind of the devil.

RACHEL!!
Let me say...I feel your pain...DH's parents pulled the same crap with us...they offered NOTHING...NOT ONE CENT...but did the rehearsal dinner..and REFUSED To pay for ANY drinks...Nobody...onlynthing includeed was coffee or soda. DH Dad sat next to mine and my dad still had to pay for his beer. I was so appalled...I opened a tab for my family & guests on my side. DH was also equally appalled and upset. My parents paid the WHOLE THING...and then they were expected to buy their own drinks too....
You are right for FUMING, I was too!!! ANd the place they had it was the ONLY place they would call to get a price from, so we had a choice of Prime Rib, some kind of chicken or salmon....I hate Prime Rib...hate seafood and the chicken dish was disgusting. My brother went down the street to the pizza place and ate a piece of Pizza.

This is exactly what I will do. Have a tab for MY family only. How embarrassing? I'm so upset
but since in my case, its his parents that are paying for everything and my cheap Azz family thats not, ((just being the devils advocate here ok?)) i wonder if anyone would be upset at their own parents
i wish you were blessed with generous fil's like i am.

You are so not overreacting! You need to have FH sit down and have a long talk with her!

I am so sorry you are going through all this. I can feel your pain. I'm going thru the same thing. FMIL and FFIL have not contributed one cent, but FMIL seems to think she can have a say in everything. UH NO I DON'T THINK SO!!!!!

Just because they booked it, do you really have to keep it there? Since your FH doesn't seem to want to speak up, can you sit down with her and tell her, since you had a problem with the venue in the past, you'd prefer to do it elsewhere? I would just find out what they want to spend, ask for the $$ and throw in the rest myself. I know, easier said than done but something tells me if you don't put this woman in her place now, this kind of behavior will never end.
Good luck

I agree with this. The other choice is to say no, thank you and book it somewhere else that you like. You know, it's still your wedding.
