I'm going to see the allergist - updated

Original post by JanuaryBride06

I'm kind of excited, which is sick, but I'm so tired of dealing with this, I can't wait to find out what's wrong.

On a less happy note, I have to bring with me the one food to ensure that symptoms will be brought on: a luna bar.

The soy allergy ***** majorly , although I think it is a very common allergy (and often a developed allergy). Have you tried taking lactaid for your lactose intolerance? I am Lac Int too, and I take the lactaid x-strength (it calls for 2 and I take 3 usually). I still often get a stomach ache after dairy, but I don't have the other even less desirable side effects of dairy ().

For Rice Milk, I like Rice dream. The chocolate is pretty good, and you can get it in little juice boxes for easy commute!

The thing is dairy also affects my skin, whether I take lactaid or not, so I prefer clearer skin to being able to eat regular ice cream because I'm vain like that Thanks for the Rice Dream tip; I'll be checking that stuff out.

DH and I are going to whole foods tonight because our kitchen must be revamped again. Another random - I'm really allergic to carrots. And who likes carrot-ginger soup way too much?

wow.....i was wondering about your allergist visit. stinks that so many random things are out for you! wild. like the other ladies said, at least now you know!

i can't have cow's milk so i have to supplement and drink calcium OJ because honestly, milk isn't milk if it's not my fatty vitamin D whole milk. which i cannot drink.

well on the positive side you aren't allergic to NWR or Harry's Hose so you don't have to change your new found calling...

and on the serious side, glad to read that there isn't something really serious going on.

... although no carrot and ginger soup is pretty horrid!

I read that dairy causes alot of people skin to break out - and also causes bloating in the face. I try not to eat it alot, even with the Lactaid, cause it makes me a bit ill (which you would think woudl be motivation to give it up totally, but so sadly not). If the motivation hits, I would love to attempt to go vegan again. I am just not sure if I could give up Panera Bread

Is carrot-ginger soup a thick soup? You could try squash soup - it is pretty good and sweet and thick. I am a huge lentil soup fan - mmmm - especially when they don't chince on the lentils (good for protein)!

am I the only person here that eats meat...I am starting to feel like a T-rex carnivorous beasty

there is one lil problem with soups....carrot is used to flavor broths of all kinds...you boil water with onions, carrots and seasonings to make veggie stock and such, so I would really be careful. sorry to be a downer, but I don't want you sick.

I am OBSESSED! There is one opening near work for me too and I am so excited. Why must they be so slow at building though? The next closest one to my house is Riverhead, which is quite a hike! (although outlets are a bonus prize for trips!)

I don't like the change in the Veggie sandwich though. I liked the cucumber saucey thing. But I will live. I always change out the cheese to mozzarella. Gorgonzola??

I live in the middle of two locations. The new Bay Shore and the old Commack. That is good stuff.

I don't eat pork or beef; I do eat chicken, turkey and seafood! But I still heart butternut squash soup.

Thank you for pointing that out - totally not being a downer! I've been kind of sick every day for so long that I just want to eliminate it all so that I can be normal again.

I live between Bohemia and Riverhead - almost equidistant. They are opening one in Hauppauge, which is one town over from work! I just tried the new pepper lentil soup - I was SO disappointed. They are so stingey witht he lentils

It is going up right off rt 111 near Hauppauge High School (between 111 and 347). It is still in the early stages, cause it is a whole new building being built. Although I haven't driven by in a few weeks, so I shoudl go for an update!
