I'm probably going to get ripped a new one for this...

Original post by yelley77

But I have to say it.

This is NOT directed to ANYONE on here, it's just a general observation. I am so sick of hearing, 'I don't want anyone to wear black, red, white, etc, to my wedding'. Yes, it is your special day, but if you are more concerned with what EVERYONE else plans to wear or is wearing to your wedding, something can't be right. I don't give an eff who wears what. I'm the bride, everyone there KNOWS I'm the bride, so why does it matter. I understand that WHITE is a bit more sensitive, but I mean, c'mon!!!!

Sorry, begin ripping new hole below.

I should also add that this is JMO and this is not a thread to creat drama, start a fight or hate yelley. It's just a thought.

I don't give two craps. Honestly, someone could wear WHITE and I wouldn't care. They'll look like the idiot.!!

And honestly, since when am IIIIII the fashion police?! Who the hell am IIIIII to say what someone should/shouldn't/could/couldn't wear?!

I think its obnoxious and rude of people to put out a memo on what is acceptable and what is not.

I feel like those are the same people that MAKE their bridal party get the SAME hairdo.

Oh...thats right. I went there.

Honestly, bring on the drama. I'm cranky, had a bad day, and I'm ready to argue.

my bridal party is getting all the same hair

Just kidding!!! I told them to do whatever they wanted, just has to be different than mine.

I actually told our BM's girlfriend not to wear the dress she was planning on to my wedding bc it was Ivory.. MY dress was ivory.. I am selfish and it was my day!!! No one wears my color but me.. and it all worked out..(she didn't wear the dress!!)

I have decided to tell the police I have hired for my big day to shoot anyone, on demand who has makeup or deodorant on.

NO ONE and I mean NO ONE can look or smell better than me on my big day

I agree.... if someone wears white- big deal. If someone wears a big white ball gown that could be a bridal gown... then we might have some issues.

I completely agree with you. I'm a little caring with the whole someone wearing white thing but mostly bc I'm wearing ant. white, so someone wearing white next to me will make me look dirty! lol Other than that, I could care less. No one is going to notice anyone else or what they are wearing. So as Yelley said- as long as no one shows up in my exact dress-it will all be okay! lol

Re: I'm probably going to get ripped a new one for this...

as much as i love you

i respectfully disagree

it is common etiquette to not wear white to weddings and i feel that it takes away from the bride. yes, people will still be able to identify her AS the bride but you know what - there is such a thing as common courtesy and etiquette and honestly, i personally feel that they should be followed out of respect for the bride/groom or guests of honor on ANY DAY.

As for black, in my culture if the mother wears black that means she is showing displeasure over the marriage and she is MOURNING the loss of her child ( more often her son ) so out of respect for my culture, I asked my FMIL NOT to wear black.

She asked ME what colors to avoid and i said white, black and royal blue so she doesn't blend into my bridesmaid's dresses and she was happy to comply.

That being said, FH's grandmother is wearing white - and she is over 70 and I would never say anything. Also, if FMIL had not ASKED me what colors to avoid I would not have mentioned it to her.

I see that I am in the minority here but just wanted to add my two cents!

So is it a bad thing that my girls are wearing an off white-ish color?

Honestly The thing that concerns me is (I know someone is not going to like this sry in advance) someone being under dresses They can wear any color they like

Re: I'm probably going to get ripped a new one for this...

I HEAR YA!!!!!!!!!

when i went shopping with FMIL, I saw this one dress that I LOOOVED and i knew it would be perfect for her and she'd love it too so when i showed it to her i can tell how much she liked it but she didn't want to get it bc it was champagne, i kept saying listen i really don't care about that seriously...she agreed to try it on and even then she felt weird about it, but the dress looked amazing on her and i can tell how much she liked it and FH was there too and even he said that is the dress for her. FINALLY i convinced her to get it. Its funny bc even after when she showed her friends pics of the dress she would first say 'Denise picked it out for me' so people wouldn't think anything bad.

I am the bride, people will know that it wont take away lol...but then again i know about it from ahead of time and know she has no bad intentions...if another guest shows up in white it wont necessarily bother me in the way that i feel its taking away from me but i might wonder about their intentions depending on who it is lol thats the only thing that would bother me is if i think the person purposely is trying to be stupid...any other color i don't care about
