People at my job ask me that all the time before I got engaged they were asking me when are you getting engaged? Now they are asking me when are you getting married? People need to get a life

I used to get the whole...when r u getting engaged????? all the time...FH and I dated for 7 years!!!! But seriously you've been spending ur life together anyway...what's the rush?

I totally know what you mean! When I called my family to tell them we got engaged (we were away on vacation) they asked me when the wedding would be! So I told them I don't know..and then they would ask for a year..or a season...and I'd say..'IT HAPPENED 15 MINUTES AGO...DON'T ASK BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW'!! haha.
the date in my profile isn't the official date yet, i just picked something randomly, and i'm already getting the 'when are you having kids' question from my relatives...sigh..it never ends...

I got that too!! i was going out with my fh 5 and 1/2 years before he proposed..I heard that daily and then tons of people would insult me saying he wasn't ever going to do it, and that i was just wasting my time..it was sooo rude!

totally...and I agree...I would have waited even longer if I had to. We went through rough patches because I thought he wasn't serious. We even got into a fight the day we got engaged that morning and I cried because we were going over how he first asked me out (it was our anniversary) and he couldn't remember that I told him I loved him...that was a really big deal. I friggin flipped and started crying because I thought he really didn't care about the relationship. Meanwhile, all he was thinking about was the ring that was 3 ft away from my face.
He said he almost gave it to me just to get me to realize that he really does care. I'm SOOOOOO GLAD that he didn't. Now I feel like an A$$!

lol something similiar happened to me!! the night before he proposed another couple got engaged at one of the cruises shows, i kept bumping him saying 'isn't that cute', 'look how he really loves her' i think i even said 'whens my turn' i felt like crap the next day though!

I work part-time for Estee Lauder and I had a bride come in for make-up. She saw my ring and asked when the wedding date was. When I told her over course she was like...that is so long. She told me that she planned her wedding in 3 months. I wanted to say to her...good for you...you are also like 25 yrs older than me and you are having only 80 people at your wedding!!
I got engaged in August of 06 and the first thing I decided was I wanted a wedding in March of 08. Everyone was horrified - including my family. Some people told me I was too old to wait that long....umm, I'll be 32 when I get married, so what's the big deal?
My response is always to ask people to pay for the reception, and I'll bump up my date. Most quiet down after that .

i was so annoyed that everyone was asking me why such a long engagement, that the first thing i screamed at midnight on new years was NOT 'happy new year' but instead, 'I'M GETTING MARRIED NEXT YEAR!!'...because i was so glad i could finally say it and people would shut up about how far away it was.

I told my FH I hated him and to move out (while I was a lil tipsy) becaus he didnt pop the question the day I 'thought' it was gonna happen. I started to listen to those people who said it isnt going to happen yet,,, and then 10 days later....... I felt stupid.

For me I'll finish school and have a wonderful career and he's working his way up with his job. We're happy with our decision! I'll be engage d over 2 years!! Another nurse I work with was in the same situation. Her DH proposed when she just started school too! She waited 3 years! She married and happy!
SAME HERE! i get teh why so long question.. but then you have to be liek listen i do want to be totally settled with school and graduation and a job before planning a life.... get that stress of school and job out of the way and you can then FULLY focus on the BEST day of your life,..
