im so confused about tipping

i know there are people you have to tip. im unsure of exactly who and how much. i see a lot of tip threads, but i still dont get it.
who from the hall: BM? waiters? bartenders?
who from the florist: delivery to house? hall? church? coordinator?
how much extra for dj adn limo if grat is included?
TIA i think im starting to freak out.

I am not too sure on how much you should tip but the people that I believe that you tip are:

From the Hall - Maitre D and Bridal Attendant(s) (the bartenders and waiter should get tipped from your guests that they are serving if your guests want to tip them)
Florist - Delivery Driver (I am assuming the one who comes to your house?)
DJ or Band
Limo's
Photographer
Videographer

If gratuity is already included - like limos, there is no need to tip above that number unless the driver does something so fantastic for you that you feel he/she earned something extra.

From the hall - bridal attendant and Maitre 'd are customary.

Florist - the delivery guy (same as if you received a bo-k of flowers for your b-day and tipped the delivery person) that brings the bo-ks to your house - chances are he/she is the only person you will see.

All together we spent about $1500 on tips. We forgot to tip the bartender but some guests were tipping him and we also gave our maitre d a large tip so I guess he would share some of that.

Bartenders, wait staff, coat check and valet get their tips from your 'service charge' that the hall tacks on. I didn't tip beyond that.

Photographer - $100
Photographers Assistant $75
MC - $100
DJ $50
Ceremony Musicians $25 each member
Flower Delivery $60
Hair $20 per girl
Makeup $20 per girl
Limo =gratuity was included, but I added $20 each way for a pickup-dropoff
Bridal Attendant $75 (She was awesome)
Maitre D' $400? (also awesome)
Videographer if you have one

I have filled in delivering flowers for weddings and even helped on mother SET up all the tables, and no one ever tipped me... so do what you will with THAT information!

The only thing I disagree with is the priest. He takes a vow of poverty and should not accept money from you.

Hi If you have a band, do you tip each member or you you give the band leader an envelope and he divides it up?
Also what is the owner of the compnay is in the band? do you tip him/her?

i am not sure if you tip priests honestly - but you can if you want to - they don't take vows of poverty in the catholic church only nuns and some types of monks do

You should not expect your guests to tip anyone. We tip our bartenders and waitstaff at wedding, but that is our choice. A tip jar on the bar at a wedding is a huge no-no to me. I think my dad tipped the head bartender.

Not necessarily, the 'service charge' in a lot of instances goes to pay their regular wages, not as a tip.

Ugh I was just figuring this out myself! There are some tipping threads...I'll BUMP them for you. Its still very confusing, but you an see what other brides have tipped and then go from there.

ETA: I just bumped one on 06 and one on BHB!
