I'd be really mad too, especially if I was planning trom out of state. Did this other bride already have her trial and wants to book the makeup artist? In that case, even if the makeup artist did honor her committment and wait til your trial, wouldn't it still be the first bride who got the first right of refusal (for lack of a better term) in terms of booking her? I can understand why the makeup person Happybride mentioned wouldn't even give her a trial -- it leads to a lot of complications it seems, for all parties. At least she did call you first and didn't just let the other bride book her.

The other bride hadn't even had her trial yet! The girl just wanted to book her immediately and schedule a trial for this weekend (allegedly) and that was before I could get up there.

12-3 - I am with you on this. It is not acceptable. You do not deserve to be treated that way - your business should be just as important as the next person's and moreso in this case because you contacted the make-up artist first.

My makeup person has been amazing. I think that in total two other girls called her to book a trial but since I had called first - and we all shared the same wedding date - she came right out and told them that she had to see me first and would discuss makeup if I was not interested. She did not jump the gun but rather honored my appointment first...and I have fewer girls than one of them so clearly it was professional courtesy over greed.

I am very upset that the person you were working with did this...clearly it is not common practice and should not be tolerated. Post away girl...these are the things we need to help each other out with.

That's just f'd up. Walk, don't run, to another makeup artist Let me know if you need recommendations. I was a bit addicted to makeup trials when I did them back in August. I think I topped out at 8 or 9

Ive had alot of stress in my life and just want to enjoy this year of planning I have ahead:)

I wasnt deliberately hurtful nor did I go looking for other peoples posts etc to find something to make fun of them about.

And I dont know if its cheesy or not but its true. Some brides dont want to deal with what happens when they disagree around here it seems, so they dont post. It is sad, but I think Im going to be one of them:).

whatever! You were completely wrong, and I have no problem when people disagree in a normal manner. What disinterested person consults a LAWYER on a subject they have nothing to do with? I find it hard to believe that you're not in the makeup industry, and that you consulted a lawyer to find out whether what happened to me was LEGAL...
BY THE WAY, you got your law wrong... since I AM a lawyer I can tell you that's it's PERFECTLY LEGAL to state your opinion of someone's business practices. What is not legal is stating FALSE FACTS about someone's business practices.

Thanks - you're right. I'm going to try and schedule with someone else for that same day. She is definitely out. AS SOON as she tried to demand money from me without a trial, she was out

Lack of professionalism shouldn't be tolerated!!!

I had a similar problem with TWO LIW VENDORS.

anyways, what was told to me is this:

there are so many vendors that are talented...you don't need this particular one.
