I'm so nervous...please wish me luck!

I have to give a presentation to teh Board Of Ed. in my district tonight! I hate speaking in public! Please give advice! I know the one about trying to picture everyone in their underwear, but I can never get through that one.

Good luck!! Remember that Brady Bunch episode where Marcia (or was it Greg) was taking her road test and pictured the guy in his underwear? Do that and maybe that'll make you less nervous!

Good luck! Sometimes I try to tell myself that I know everything about the topic I'm discussing and my audience doesn't know anything. Not always true, but I try to think that way. It helps me to feel more confident and less nervous. Or try to imagine that you're giving the presentation to a group of your friends so you will feel more comfortable.

To make matters worse, my ex-boyfriend's aunt will be there as well as his cousin! Yikes!

Kelly; If you will be doing these presentations a lot, you might want to look into Toastmaster's International. Their web page will tell you where there is a local chapter. They have helped me improve my speaking skills a lot. It's not expensive, and you are not restricted to a specific class schedule.

In the meantime, if you see this before you go...

When you step to the lectern, take a deep breath, smile and thank everyone for attending. This give you a moment to gain your composure. Look around the room as you speak, make occasional eye contact, and use hand gestures - you'll feel more relaxed - not so stiff. Afterwords, thank everyone again. Good Luck!
