I agree that the puppies do not choose to where and how they are born and I never insinuated that they should be left to die or that I consider buying one of these dogs animal abuse. Yes, puppymill owners should be held accountable and punished to the extent of the laws. The industry is hideous.
My point was in not supporting the puppymill industry as a consumer. The only reason puppymills exist is for profit. That profit comes from from selling their products, ie puppies. They sell their puppies to pet stores and the pet stores sell them to consumers - the consumers are part of the support system of the industry. If the consumers no longer existed, the puppymills would eventually stop breeding because because there would not be any profit in the industry. Do I think that one person not buying one of those dogs is going to collaspe the industy - no - but it has to start somewhere. If one person was educated by this thread and chooses an alternative way of adding a four legged friend to their family, then I have made a difference; maybe that one turns in to three and that three turns in to nine, etc. That could be one less litter born in such conditions. This is what I hope happens.
ETA: I don't think the very last post on page 2 was directed at me, but to the original poster as well as the one above it.
Ok thats fine.. if thats your point stick to it, even though like I said it may stop a puppy mill but at the cost of the poor puppies' lives.
I respect you opinion, but please do not insinuate that just because I happened to buy my dog at a puppy store I was in SUPPORT of puppy mills.. especially after I went out of my way to explain HOW it is I came across him and that he was sick so prob would have died there if I didnt buy him
Also...I was insulted by the comment.. 'maybe your sister should have researched puppy stores...' I dont think you have the right to say anything of the sort, my sister was 14 at the time and DID actually try to find me a dog in another matter, and probably would have if we didnt stop for dog food that day'
ETA.. and yes sorry, I thought you were the one that started the thread, hence the thought of you ignoring those posts.. my mistake

Yes, that comment I made about your sister was inapproriate and I owe you an apology for that. I don't know your sister nor the circumstances and it wasn't a fair comment at all. I am sorry.
I completely understand how you came to have Fred. In your shoes, I probably would have done the same thing and still may. When I pass by Canine Corral and I see an older dog in the window, I know that dog isn't going to be bought and sits in a cage, night after night, all by themselves, until they are either used for breeding or dumped at a shelter. It breaks my heart. I can't even go into one of those places because it's too hard for me to leave without a dog or a puppy. I'm guilty of indirectly supporting the industry as well by patronizing those places even for supplies. I didn't become of aware of 'puppymills' until a few years ago so I would buy stuff from pet stores. I know you don't agree with the industry and wouldn't knowing support it. I really was trying to help to educate others about some of the dirtiness of the puppy industry and how, we, as consumers are taken advantage of.
Again, my apologizes for the comment about your sister.

No problem..
And I totally think it is great for you to be so agaisnt the issue; people need to know so they can make an informed decision, I just think some of your comments may have been taken the wrong way (like I did).
