Well, I got very busy and saw a few places this week. Found that there was not much available for next July or August, but each place did have a few dates available, mostly in the afternoons, and while at first I was against it, I realized I could save a lot of money that way. So right now we are planning on a Saturday afternoon July 2005.
The problem: we are torn between North Ritz Club and the Watermill!
We think both are so beautiful and very professional. The only thing I don't like about North Ritz is that Jericho turnpike is whizzing by. And my only issue with Watermill is that I wanted only one wedding at a time, and here there are 2. The BM swears I will never bump into the other bride though.
We have to decide fast because its really booking up fast. Any feedback? TIA

as a past NRC bride I can tell you this: when you're at your reception you will not care about the cars wizzing by on JT and no one else will either. It was not an issue for us and i'm sure past bride of the NRC will tell you the same. NRC is a beautiful place and the service and detail to attention from everyone that works there is amazing!!!!
past NRC bride who agrees!

Watermill!! Okay, Im being biased. I was married there 5 years ago and still am reading fantastic comments on the place! When I got married it was a sunday night (600 CH) and no other wedddings or 'celebrations' happening. I had the whole place to myself. I agree with the post that says to make a list of basically your 'pros' and 'cons'. Dont forget to let us know your choice!

I looooovvved the watermill - until i saw the NRC.
One wedding at a time did it for me and i thought the NRC was gorgeous. Also, after seeing the watermill, i loved it but i kept thinking that i felt like i was going into a basement (we had too many guests to have it upstairs). then we called one of FH's friends and told him we were thinking of the watermill and he said 'to be honest, i felt like i was in a basement when i went to a wedding there'. that really bothered me. i am sooo glad we kept looking. i am so happy with the NRC.

I guess I am somewhat neutral, so maybe this will help. I haven't been to a wedding at the NRC, but I did look at it for our wedding and thought it was very nice. I went to the Watermill for a wedding and you definately saw other weddings. In fact we bumped into them between the cocktail hour and the reception, when we were waiting for our cars to leave, and when we arrived. The decor is beautiful and the lobby is nice for pictures, but it was quite chaotic.

Re: I'm torn...North Ritz or Watermill?
another vote for NRC and once again I am extremely biased! LOL
It definitely is top notch and high class. It set far enough back from Jericho Trpke that it's not an issue. plus, with all the music and everything who will even hear it. if russos on the bay which is right on cross bay blvd or Chateau Briand right on Old Country Road don't have issues, I wouldn't worry about it.
I agree that the watermill is beautiful, but definitely could border that 'factory' feel with other weddings going on. They can promise until they are blue in the face that you won't see another bride, but they can't guarantee that. Especially when they book more weddings that day and don't care don't fall for that. I also agree about the basement feel.
good luck! let us know!

North Ritz-my vote. I live around the block from the Watermill. Never mind Jericho, but 347. Terrible traffic and in the summer-it's crazy. Plus I heard the food was OK.

I definitely vote NRC, I saw the Watermill and I personally think the decor is more elegant, the flow of rooms makes more sense and you just feel like you own the place since it's one affair at a time.
