in-laws

Original post by mariecam

My future in-laws haven't helped out financially at all for my wedding. I really didn't care at first because I took the stance that I am better off because all of the decisions I make will be mine and so on....
But as the wedding gets closer, I am getting a little pissed. FH has 2 older married brothers whose wives parents could afford paying the whole thing. My parents can't.
Are anyone else's in-laws not helping at all?

Mine are not doing anything at all. Their reasoning, 'No one helped them'. I am very blessed that my parents are paying for mostly everything else.

Re: in-laws

i have to say that i am very lucky. my future in laws are sometimes more generous than my own parents...they have given us so much throughout the whole process, and always ask if we need more. they gave us a set amount and then bought us our bedroom set as an early wedding gift and then a new grill as a housewarming gift. i really shouldn't complain at all. to be honest, sometimes i get so annoyed that they help us too much. my parents are doing a lot also though. we're lucky, though we are paying for a lot as well. everyone has played a pretty good role in the whole process!!
let's see how they are for the next 65 days!!
good luck with everything!!!

Re: in-laws

My parents paid for the hall & rehearsal dinner and my husband and I paid for all our vendors.

My in-laws did not contribute to the wedding fund but they did give us a very generous gift ($$) which we put towards the purchase of our house. They also bought us our living room set as a shower gift.....so I can't complain.

My FILs are not contributing at all. My parents are chipping in, and we're paying for the rest ourselves.

Re: in-laws

mine weren't, but when we were deciding whether or not to buy a house, they said they were giving us a nice sum of money for our wedding gift.
