In seating Chart Hell! Need opinions please- Long, sorry

In seating Chart Hell! Need opinions please- Long, sorry

This is the scenerio, FH is trying to figure out where to sit his side, and he does not know what to do about his immediate family and rest of bridal party. He wanted to sit his parents and his side of the bridal party together and it makes sense, you will see why. Keep in mind that our RH has round tables that fit no more than 10 people to a table. This is his side of the bridal party:

Mom
Dad
Brother (best man)
Little Sister (ring bearer girl, age 11)
Sister #1 (groomswoman)
Sister #2 (groomswoman)
Groomsman #1 (sister #1s boyfriend)
Groomsman #2 (sister#2s boyfriend)
Flower Girl (niece and Best man's daughter)

for a grand total of 9 people. Pretty much his immediate family and their dates would be seating at this table with the parents, and it works out because they are all in the bridal party, except for one person, his Best man's wife (FHs sister in law). This would add up to 10 people and would be perfect! But ofcourse that would just be too simple. The bestman and his wife also have another child, who is not in the bridal party but obviously belongs in this table, except that would add up to 11 people and we can only do 10! We don't know what to do.

He just turned two years old, so I suggested that maybe he does not need a chair because he little and is either always running around or in grandmas lap or one of his aunts, so he probably won't even use it. BUt his sister in law said that he needs a chair because she won't be carrying him all night (which she wont be anyway because he is attached to his grandma and aunt #2). I do understand her point, but at the same time we feel stuck. FHs family all are very close and FH can't imagine taking one of his sisters and their date (who is also a groomsman) out of the 'family table.' dont know what to do! Where would we sit the 'exiled' couple or person?

Well I definitely don't think you can 'exile' one member of the family (or one part of the family). They really should all be at the same table. I also think your FSIL is right and she, or for that matter anyone, shouldn't have to hold the other child. Can you talk to the hall and see if they can make an exception for just this one table - and explain the situation and beg??? That's really the only solution I can think of!

This is what FH wants to do, but there is just no more space for another chair or high chair. 10 is the max because another chair wont fit. FH doesnt get that and he is going to try to talk the RH into and 11th chair, but unless the baby's chair is going to be behind his mother, I dont know how this could work.

I know it's not the best sloution but do they have a bigger table for them to use..or for the 1st set of tables on each side to balance it out

I'm sure the RH could figure something out, especially since there will be kids at that table. It's not like your increasing it by so many adults. Talk to the hall and see what they can do.

Dont know what they can do, but I dont loose anything by asking. I guess you never know till you ask. Thanks

What if you split the group into two? Put half at one table and half at another able right next to each other? That way they will still sort of be together. I know it isn't an ideal situation but at least no one will feel left out. Also to round the table out maybe for the other five seats you can have your family. That way you can swing the whole thing like you want your two families to get to know each other...HTH

I suggested this to FH and he didnt love the idea, and neither did I because I have my side all set. but at this point it might be the only option. It would be hard for me to pick who to sit with them from my side AHHH!

IMO the only two options I see is beg your RH to squeeze in another child or explain to the family what going on and split them into 2 diff tables. HTH!

i wouldn't split up spouses - like i wouldn't split up the guy from his wife and kid - they would prefer to sit together, don't you think?

I wouldn't split up the couple, we would have to take a couple out of the table, if we went with the option. FH talked to his family again and they said that they would rather be squeezed together than broken up. I am just letting it be at this point. They dont want to be separeted and they dont dont want to carry the baby. If the RH can't squeeze the extra chair in there (which they are going to look crazy all squeezed in one table, especially because they will be in one of the spotlight tables, but whatever!) then the baby will have to be carried because the wedding is in less than two weeks and my seating chart has to be completed soon!

I wound up having to split up some people that I rather would not have separated. Honestly, I felt bad about it, but this was the most diplomatic way. So instead of them having a full table with everyone in their own group- these two groups each had half the table. It was the only way the numbers would work out.

just add the chair. the RH will tell you that you can't do this or that but its just a chair. he won't be eating the RH food anyway at that age and will jsut need a chair. the day of, if its not done, ask a waiter for an extra chair and they will bring it to you. no one will tell you no for an extra chair at a table of 10 on your wedding day. trust me on this one
