Ok, I feel like we're down to the final hour on getting a DJ. There's so many posts here on DJs I'm getting confused. If possible, could you ladies please recommend good DJs/MCs?
Please list 1. Name of Your DJ 2. Why you picked him/her 3. If you've had your wedding already, how was he/she at your wedding? Did they do well and get people up and dancing? 4. General cost range of your DJ/MC if you don't mind? 5. Were they polite? (My parents are oldies and get mad easily at people who are a bit impatient and rude)
Thanks!

I used Party connection paid sixteen hundred for dj, mc, ceremony, cocktail, reception music, no overtime charges, 2 plasmas plus an additional plasma built into dj booth, female vocal singer, uplighting and zap shots. partydjmc.com. his price is unbeatable he closed his office and works out of his home office so he doesnt have overhead to pay so he keeps his prices low. highly recommended by my banquet manager at watermill. i spoke to a bride on here that used her and she had great reviews . . no bad records on better business bureau and has been in buisness for 28 years check it out.

Re: In serious need of non cheesy DJ
Im using LI Sound and have heard nothing but amazing things. They do not do any dance participation songs (cha cha slide, cotton eye joe, etc) unless you ask them too. I was told that you are in control of how much you want your MC to interact with the crowd as well. Pricewise, they were do-able and well worth it in my opinion. Also they were the nicest people! Honestly they were joking around with my FH who was in a grumpy mood the day we met with them and FH actually was in a good mood by the time we left. They are really good at reading people it seems. I saw them at a showcase and wanted to get up and dance. So I knew I had to have them at my wedding!
So we used my cousins company and while we were scared in the beginning to hire them, we knew my cousin would be fine. I cannot even begin to tell you how much of a relief they were! A&V surpassed any kind of expectations we could imagine! The dancefloor was PACKED the WHOLE night! I know everyone says this but no seriously, it was! It's over a year later and we still get compliments on our music. My boss tells everyone at work that it was one of the best music selections he's ever heard at a wedding.
Check them out, it's not expensive and yes they are VERY polite. Vinny and Angelo are THE BEST!!!!

We used After Hours and I seriously couldn't be happier with them!! We had a DJ/MC/PERCUSSIONIST/ZAP SHOTS/NAME IN LIGHTS. Phil was our MC and he kept the dance floor packed all night long....four people already asked me for his information!

We used In the Mix and chose them because we really enjoyed the personality of one of the MC's at a showcase. Their price for a DJ/MC package and photobooth was great and they hit EVERY song on the head with the suggested list I gave and then took it from there. The MC was funny and really did help make the party fun without being cheezy or sweet 16 like. They did an amazing job and would highly recommend to everyone!

Bravura is the definition of non-cheesy DJ. We loved them, so professional and they really listen. Check out my review! A+++++

What After Hours did you use? I contacted an After Hours and they said they no longer do weddings on Long Island. The contact's name was Brett.

Re: In serious need of non cheesy DJ
I booked FM Entertainment. At their showcase, Frank basically demonstrated how they are pretty much the exact opposite of non-cheesy.
They also showed how they can customize every reception based on your style, whether you want a club feel, or a more low-key feel.
I booked them because I am very comfortable with them and got a great vibe from them. Their prices were a little more within my budget that what I had seen from some other vendors.

I used them also - they were by far my most favorite vendor. Exceeded my expectations.

Thanks. Started to and will be contacting all of these. Any other suggestions?
Did you guys get DVDs from them or see showcases or anything else before booking? Did you pick your playlist or did they pick the music for you?

If you need to a see a DVD from A&V Productions, they can provide one (it's actually mine). And as for the playlist, I gave them some songs that were MUST plays and MUST NOT plays but for the most part I told them what we were looking for and they went from there. Seriously best music selection EVER and it really was perfect! Even though it's my cousin, I have to say that I paid for a service from then and I'm not about to tell them every single song to play at my wedding. Just like I wouldn't expect them to come into my job and tell me how to do what I do. Trust who you hire...
