I'm going to a wedding on Sunday with an outside cocktail hour and I know my hair is going to be one giant frizz ball unless I do something with it. Can anyone recommend a not so expensive place to get my hair done on Sunday in Queens? I live in Flushing but I'll travel. Thanks in advance!

Re: Inexpensive hair salon in Queens?
call up christies & co in bayside.
I will say its weird bc i thought their prices were amazing, make up is $30 for regular and airbrush for $60. The weird part is that not long ago a few of us were recommending christies & co and i said it is very inexpensive and others said its expensive, seems like i got charged alot less than others. I got charged $40 to do my hair with big loose curls while others got charged ALOT more for the same thing or similar. I dont know if they charged me wrong by accident or what the deal is.
If they give you the same price as me then definitely check it out, they do great work. Plus it is close to flushing.

Thanks! I've been there when I've been in different bps and it was expensive... maybe they charge more when they know you're in a bridal party? $40 is an amazing price for big loose curls!

Re: Inexpensive hair salon in Queens?
just for wash and big loose curls my place charges about $15-20, but they set it in rollers. i'm not sure if the ones you visited did it that way.
a blow out is usually $20-30 depends on hair length and depends if you want anything special or flat iron. it's Rosa's salon on broadway in elmhurst. prob 15 mins from you.

Haha, that was me Denise. I asked my cousing who works there..and she said $40 is normal for JUST curls. I had them put the front of mine up..you know that style I mean?? Very popular..just the very front part and pushed forward so it's high..
Anyway- that's considered and 'updo' and because my hair is so long they charged me $100. If your just going for a blowout or curls and leaving it all down, I'd definitely check out Christies!

Personally, I am not a fan of Christie's, but the only reason is because every time I've gotten my hair colored there in the past (by different people each time to give them a fair chance) my hair has come out nightmarish. But, I cant speak for their updo's, so i'm no help in that dept lol
try Medusa in Whitestone also - def less $ but still a good salon.

for some reason hair color in queens is not the best option or at least it hasnt been with my experiences. I stopped dying my hair in queens when i was 19 after i tried and tried but blonde comes out like a yellow-ish color or the roots an orange-ish color, i gave up lol. I did do color in queens again after 10 years but it was a red color and this one place does a good job...blonde though i dont think i'd trust it though
the one salon in queens i trust and love is a place in astoria called friends. They did my red color that i loved, cut my hair and also did my hair with big curls for a couple of events. They have gotten pricey though
