inexpensive reception

inexpensive reception

Hi all,

My family is from PA and not used to the glitz and glamour that is New York. I want to plan a lovely wedding, but stay in a price range that doesn't rock the family boat.

Unfortunately, I fell in love with the Vanderbilt Mansion. I am considering doing just a ****tail reception there, but it still may be pricey. I want to stay in the $75pp range.

Any advice?

Hey! First and foremost welcome to the boards! I can not help you out a lot on this one but what I can tell you is that if you click the wedding services button at the top of this page and then click on reception location you will find a long list of places on the island that might be able to help you find a place in your budget! I know they exist on LI! Hope I was of some help

HI & welcome!! Check out the George Washington Manor in Roslyn. It is beautiful and definetely in your price range. Depending when you have the wedding and what's included and stuff they might be able to go even lower than $75pp. We almost booked them, but then figured out we had too many guests for them to comfortably accommadate. Forum mail if you'd like more information! GOOD LUCK!! ALSO, I've never been there, but I hear great things about THE RIVERIA in Massapequa.

$75 after tax and gratuity, or before? If it's before taxes, you can get GWManor on a Friday night or Sunday afternoon. However, if you're looking for $75pp final price, it's out of your price range, but that's for a full dinner. If you're looking for an horsd'oeuvres reception, they'll probably work with you.

Congratulations on your engagement! I don't know too much about the reception halls, we only went to about 5 local ones (Suffolk) and made our decsision, but for your price range, you can definately have an elegant reception without going overboard. Best of luck to you.

Congratulations on your engagement! My fiance is from PA also! His family is not used to all of this wedding stuff either, so I empathize with you. Some ways to save $$ on the hall is to have it in a less popular month (Nov - April) and don't have a Saturday eve reception. We're having a Saturday afternoon reception and saving $10 per person - and Friday nights and Sundays are even cheaper. Good Luck!

We had our recption at West Lake Inn in Patchogue. They are a Lovin' Oven place...the same caterers as Dowling college, Flowerfield, and Lands End but not the price that they want. Go and look at the place and find out the prices. We had a Saturday afternoon wedding in October!

Good Luck

Re: inexpensive reception

Congratulations and welcome!!! We are getting married at the Three Village Inn and are spending about $65 pp for a Friday night. The TVI is definately not glitzy but has a more country/homey/bread and breakfast feel. Exactly what we were looking for. Good luck in your search!!!

Congrats and Welcome

Try the Swan Club. I just called for my eparty and they are charging buffet about $45+ tax and tip for April or May of next year. This does not include a cocktail hour. I am sure it won't be more than $75 pp.
Good Luck

Check out the North Ritz Club. I am not getting married there, but was quoted $75.00 for a Sunday afternoon. It is a beautiful place.

Re: inexpensive reception

I would suggest Manor East. Its in massapequa. Its not very glizy, but its very cozy and the service is amazing. We are paying 68 dollars a person for our menu and we are getting an ice sculpture and a mini vienesse table (which is included in the price)

Our contact is amazing. They are so understanding and willing to work with you on everything. they make you feel like you are the king and queen.

Very reasonable and very nice

Re: inexpensive reception

The Vanderbilt Mansion and any other Lovin' Oven places will drop their prices two months prior to the date they have available, so if you can deal with only two months to get everything together this is a great way to have an inexpensive reception at The Vanderbilt.
If two months is not enough time..alot of other sites will drop prices four months prior to the date.
Only thing is you must be flexible with your date
