Inner Envelope Help

I'm mailing my invites in a mailing box, and the envelope will be wrapped in tissue paper inside of the box - im also addressing the envelope...what is proper etiquette for addressing an 'inner' envelope?

for my grandparents the label on the box will say:
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Smith

how do I address the envelope inside?
Mr. and Mrs. Smith? Grandma and Grandpa?

how formal are inner envelopes?

Re: Inner Envelope Help

Yes the formal way.

Outer:
Mr. and Mrs. John Smith

Inner Mr. and Mrs. Smith

for single people I did:

Outer:
Mr. John Smith

Inner:
Mr. John Smith and Guest

For couples not married I did

Outer:
Mr. John Smith and Ms. Jane Doe

Inner:
Mr. Smith and Ms. Doe

Re: Inner Envelope Help

My outers were formal. On my inners I put what we call the people for example:

Outer:Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Smith
Inner: Danny and Jen

I think its personal preference. I like the informal inside way.

We did it this way also. I wanted the inners to be a little more personal, so we put first names only. It is absolutely a personal preference. There is no right or wrong way.

I think the inner envelope would have both of their first names

Ann and Arthur Smith

This is what we did as well it's the formal way.

But it's your wedding do what fits your personalities!

P.s.
Outer envelopes in theory take the transit abuse and make sure the invites gets where it needs to it's the 1st formal communication with the guest.
The inner, IMO is the 2nd ... should the first envelope be marked up and such the inner envelope should be the 'stand in' if you will and should be likewise formal just a step down.

Re: Inner Envelope Help

we did John and Jane Doe for 90% of them

for close family we did Uncle John and Aunt Jane or Mom and Dad.
