Inner Envelope Wording?

How did you or do you plan to address your inner envelopes? We are so unsure whether to take a formal/informal approach. They are formal invitations. But we are kind of informal people. And we were a little weirded out by the idea of the front envelope being 'Mr and Mrs. John Smtih' and the inner envelope being 'Mr. and Mrs. Smith' and not ever addressing the woman's name... anyone else notice this and want to get around it somehow?

And if those are aunts and uncles, we thought maybe we would be informal by saying, 'Uncle John and Aunt Smith' but then if we send to an adult cousin, would it then just be their first name? Seems weird for it to just say 'Jane' on the front.

ANY advice would be great. I'm so unsure how to go about this and we have to send these out to the calligrapher next week!

Re: Inner Envelope Wording?

I've been wondering the same thing. I don't like Mr. & Mrs. Smith or Mr. & Mrs. John Smith. I prefer Jane & John Smith. For aunts and uncles, I may actually do the informal 'Aunt Jane & Uncle Joe' on the inner envelope. As far as cousins, etc., go, I will put their first names only.

I am having a formal wedding on a Saturday night, but feel like I want to personalize my invitations a little bit.

Anyone else already have their wedding or order their invitations and have advice on this?

Re: Inner Envelope Wording?

I had formal invites for a formal wedding and I wanted to do more informal on the inside but decided against it. For the sake of consistancy and making a point because I am a little worried about attire. We will see how it all works out

edit: you can always be more personal when it comes to the thank you cards where you put more indvidual attention into them anyway.
