This sounds dumb, but what is an inner envelope and do I NEED to buy one? I can't ever remember getting a wedding invitation with double envelopes....help!?! and what goes on it???

Re: inner envelopes?
The inner envelope lists who is invited. The outer envelope gets marked up in the mail, the inner envelope is there to protect the invitation and still looks nice when you open it. Do you NEED it? I suppose not, but it is pretty standard with wedding invitations, you probably just don't remember.
The outer envelope can say: Miss Jane Doe 123 Sesame St. Sometown, New York 45678
The inner envelope just says: Miss Jane Doe & Guest
HTH!!

Re: inner envelopes?
Thanks!
I am trying to save money and trying to see the need for spending an extra $100 on inner envelopes... when I can't ever remember receiving one, or picture what it would look like.... sigh, etiquette stinks LOL

Re: inner envelopes?
IMO if they cost extra and you don't want to put the money towards it, it's not a big deal not to get them. You can address the outside:
Ms. Jane Doe and Guest 123 Highway Drive Long Island, NY 11000
My invites came with inner envelopes included and I think it's a nice touch, but not really a big deal.

Re: inner envelopes?
I'm not going to offend anyone if I don't do the inner envelope right?
I don't want anyone to open and go 'eww, Jennifer didn't use double envelopes. What was she thinking?!?'

Yes you do need it! The outter envelop is ripped and thown in the garbabge. The inner keeps all your wedding info together neatly for the guests.

Re: inner envelopes?
I didn't get inner envelopes, my invitations are pocket folds so ther is a pocket to keep everything together.

No you don't need it. I think its poinless to pay extra. Im not getting them. they werent included. They were necessary when mail was as updated as it is now. so the outer envelope gets a little dirty. so what! How many envelopes do you get that are filthy from the mail
