I'm here in LI...Last year it was $35. I thought maybe it had gone up just like license!

If the car is less then 2 years old you only need the safety portion, which is $10. If it's over 2 years you need the safety and emissions which totals $35.

It's free in NJ but it's done by the state and they fail like 85% of us :(

I didn't know that!! That's good info to know! My car is a 1998 and it runs great! True, It is high on miles but I take good care of it and I am up to date with it! Funny how I am typing this they just called me to tell me it passed inspection!! and did the oil change...$82!
