Installing Car Seat

DH and I made an attempt to install our car seat yesterday and both are confused. We have the Peg Perego and used the latch system in the car (nissan Maxima) but the base still moves a little from side to side. Is that normal? We cannot put the seat in the middle because the latch attachments are on either the passenger or driver side in the back seat. You can pull on the base and it is definately not going anywhere, but I just had this impression that the thing would not move at all.

Re: Installing Car Seat

Check online for a place that does a carseat check. I think you are in a different state than NY if I remember correctly, so I'm not sure where they would do it. Try here

Good Luck

Re: Installing Car Seat

I had the same problem...

Car seat thread

my husband got in there and really used his knee to push it into the seat while tightening the latch belt. After that it was really tight and didn't move at all.
Same thing with the Britax, just pulling the straps did not make it tight enough, I would have loved to witness him doing this because the seat is in the middle and he is 6'3'! But now its tight as can be!

Re: Installing Car Seat

Thanks! My local PD is listed as a safety inspection, so I will give them a call and bring it to them just to be safe.

Re: Installing Car Seat

we had the SAME EXACT problem with the peg perego and our truck. We couldnt get it using the latch into the center position, so we put it behind the pass seat, but I have been told that it is safer in the middle position so we are going to move it and just use the seat belt.

Re: Installing Car Seat

We had the same problem, but had it checked and it was installed correctly. and as far as the latch, we had problems installing it in the middle of the back seat, but if you dig hard enough, the latch connectors are there. We have a 2003 car. Be sure to check the cars manual because we thought it wasn't in the middle and it was.

Re: Installing Car Seat

Thanks for more input. Our car's manual actually says not to put it in the middle because it will not install correctly.

Re: Installing Car Seat

So where is the best place to position the car seat? I have a 2002 volvo and a 2004 Jeep Cherokee. We put both of our car seat bases behind the passener seat. Is this incorrect?

Re: Installing Car Seat

I'm pretty sure first choice is middle of the back seat.

Ideally the carseat should be in the middle

Re: Installing Car Seat

and I think the second choice is actually behind the driver, because statistically there are more collisions to the passenger side.
