I work for an insurance company and we insure engagement rings.... mine was insured like two seconds after i put it on my finger!!

With the company I insure my ring with, all you need is the appraisal and you are good to go.

We have had a couple of insured who have either lost their ring or have had it stolen and all they had to do was show their appraisal, a picture with the ring on and they were given a full refund on the value of the ring. If you have any questions, FM me, I will be happy to help.

You need a picture of yourself with the ring on? Do you have to be able to see your full body? I've never heard of that.

That's a good question. FH just confirmed that the jeweler he bought it from appraised it too. Do I still need another appraisal?

Too bad my friend didn't use your company! That's much more reasonable. She's so distraught over this! (She used Met Life & they are being AWFUL)

You DO NOT need another appraisal!!!!!! I dunno where people are getting this info from.... Does not matter if it came from the same place you bought it or a different place

You do not need the appraisal from another place aside from where you bought it!

I am saying a picture b/c my good friend lost her ring and they just asked for the appraisal and if there was a picture with her wearing the ring. It wasnt even a good picture she gave, it was similar to the one i have in my avatar picture. They just want to see you actually wearing the ring and to make sure you are not committing fraud.

We used the appraisal it came with and put it on our home owner's policy.

Did you and FH live together before you insured the ring? We both live with our parents.

sorry I got back to this so late - we do live together - if you live with your parents you can put it on their home owner's policy until you move in with FH and then you can put it on your renter's insurance or home owner insurance

I am so sorry to hear that. It upsets me when i hear stories like that. I would recommend this company regardless if I worked here or not because they are amazing when it comes to engagement ring policies... and the greatest thing about it is after your married you can add your wedding bands.... and even before your married you can add any piece of jewelry you want!

This is what they told my friend. The a$$hole 'investigator' said to her 'anyone can borrow a ring & get it appraised. An appraisal does not equal ownership.' So they wanted pictures.

What jerks! I am so sorry that your poor friend is going through this. When my friend lost her ring I felt so horrible for her... it was probably the worst thing to see someone go through. She got fully reimburst and another ring w/in about a month to a month in a half

Well none of us LIW Brides have to worry about pictures... we all have millions of pictures of our rings so we are all good!! LoL

My ring is less than a carat and FH bought it from a friend who's jewelry store has since closed...I don't think I should even bother....

Anyone think I should? How much does an appraisal cost?

I still haven't gotten my ring appraised and plan on doing this weekend. The place where FH appraised it, but don't you have to go someplace else to have it appraised for insurance? And how did you insure your ring?

I can insure ring without homeowners if interested,
I have helped some girls on this site before.

Fm me.

we're going to insure it at statefarm. They insure the actual cut, clarity & all that jazz as opposed to just the number value.....that way in how ever many years when it goes up in value, if any thing happens u really get ur money's worth...rather than just getting the original $$$ value when it's really worth more.
