interfaith marriages

I am getting married Sept. 10 2000 at Timber Point Country Club in East Islip. I have a reverend, but I am still looking for a rabbi.

Does anyone have any names? I have already contacted Rabbi Ross and he is not available.

Oh Marisol I am sorry to hear that Rabbi Roger is not available :/ Heather

As for the hotels I mentioned, I can try and get you their phone numbers. I think I have them at home. The Marriott Fairfiel Inn is the most convenient because it is really just up the road. The rooms are somewhat small, but it seemed nice enough. Holiday Inn wouldn't show me a sample room, because they said after their construction was finished, they were going to renovate all the rooms, and change the furniture, etc., so there was no point.

I would book your hotels as soon as possible. It doesn't cost you anything. You just tell them how many rooms you want to set aside (I think 15 is the limit). They also will give you a discount rate if 10 or more rooms are filled. Every place has their own policy, so you need to check. You sign a contract, and come up with a date that your guests have to book by. Obviously, these hotels overbook, so I'm just hoping my guests don't have a problem.

Heather,

Did you mean Rabbi Ross or Rabbi Roger? I spoke to Rabbi Ross (and he really seems so sweet). Basically, he has a wedding at 11am and my wedding is at 1pm. This would be cutting it a bit close since he is performing the 11am ceremony in Roslyn and my ceremony is in East Islip. He said its up to me, but I think the timing is too close.

I AM CATHOLIC, BUT MY FIANCEE IS JEWISH - IT WAS SO HARD TO FIND A RABBI THAT WOULD PERFORM AN INTERFAITH CEREMONY. WE WERE RECOMMENDED BY A RABBI(THAT WOULD NOT DO IT) TO RABBI ROSENBERG - PHONE # 718-253-8386. I HAVE NOT MET WITH HIM YET, SO CANNOT COMMENT ON HIM.

My DJ is $750 for four hours (five hour reception minus one hour for cocktail hour where he will not be playing music)...includes a FEW party favors for guests (maraccas, glow necklaces, YMCA kit, etc.). And, I'd hope to give him up to a $100 tip if applicable.

Actually Lorraine I forgot to mention that I have spoken to Rabbi Rosenberg also. He said he could do it, but he was very casual about it and said that he would not be able to meet with me until May.

MARISOL-IT IS FUNNY THAT YOU SHOULD SAY THAT ABOUT HIS CASUAL ATTITUDE. WE CALLED HIM MID FEB. FOR MY JULY 9TH WEDDING. HE SAID TO CALL HIM END OF MARCH AND WE WOULD SET UP A TIME TO MEET. WELL, WE HAVE BEEN TO BUSY TO CALL HIM AND HAVE NOT HEARD FROM HIM EITHER. I HOPE THAT HE STILL PLANS ON PERFORMING THE CEREMONY!!!
