Interfaith Officiants
Hi Ladies...I am Roman Catholic and my fiancée is Jewish. We would like to get two interfaith officiants for our ceremony. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions? I haven’t done much research so I’m not sure where to start. Officiants can help set the tone for the ceremony so I thought I’d ask and see if anyone had any recommendations. Thanks!

Why two interfaith officiants? I am Jewish, FH is Catholic we are using Reverend Laura Tria. She will included what ever you want in a cermony. For us it is nonreligious except for having a chupa and breaking the glass. If you want two officiants why not use a priest and rabbi?

To be honest I'm not even too sure how it works. I didn't realize that you could have one officiant that would cover both the jewish/catholic aspects of the ceremony. It definitely seems like a good idea thougn.

Re: Interfaith Officiants
I am Catholic and DH is Jewish, we are going with Rabbi Alan Stein and Father Thomas McCormick. I have also heard great things about Rabbi Broden and Deacon Billia, and Rabbi Tobin (not sure who he works with though). You can make an appointment to go speak with them to see who you like best. If you are also looking for an interfaith ceremony location, we are using the CW Post Interfaith Chapel, it is a great spot. on the Brookville campus. Dowling also has one, if you prefer Suffolk. Good luck.

It all depends on what you want. We are not religious and didn't feel the need to have two officiants just to symbolize what religion we each are so we chose to go with an Interfaith Minister that will do a non-denominational ceremony being more about our love than religion.

Re: Interfaith Officiants
My cousin used a rabbi and a Catholic priest and was married at a college chapel. THis was in Md, but I'm sure all colleges have chapels. I thought the ceremony was pretty amazing.

Re: Interfaith Officiants
I am greek orthodox and FH is Jewish. Rabbi Renee Feller is marrying us. We met with her once so far and loved her. We booked her for our date. She will meet with us about 2-3 more times and she plans to incorporate both traditions into the ceremony. She is soooooo great. Whoever you meet with make sure you feel like you have a good connection with them : ) FM me for details.

Do you realize you can have a priest or deacon marry you and you can have your marriage recognized by the Church and as a Sacrament for you? you do need to contact the Church (your parish or your parent's parish)and they will help you with this and you need to complete inter-faith pre-cana . you can get married IN the church if your FH is comfortable with that and/or he can find a liberal enough rabbi that will do that. if not, you can get amrried at your hall or other location and it can still be done by a Catholic priest or deacon.
