Invitation Delivery Times

Invitation Delivery Times

So I sent out my invitations on Saturday. I brought them to the local post office and asked they be hand canceled (there is an embellishment and one less machine they have to go through the better). The man behind the counter said not a problem, he would take care of it.

I don't know of anyone who has gotten them yet. I called the post office and the woman I spoke to said people should start receiving them today or at the latest by the end of the week. I put $.24 more postage than necessary on them (I had already bought the special stamps I wanted to use so I just used them) so I know the postage isn't a problem.

How long did it take for your guests to start getting them? I'm worried!

Re: Invitation Delivery Times

i would go to the post office and see if they ever got sent out

at least at the huntington post office, i just had to leave them in the box and give them to them - they wouldnt hand cancel in front of me. it happened that they stamped them when they closed on saturday so they didnt actually get 'processed' until monday (since they're closed on sunday) - which is why people got them on tuesday.

for all you know they might still be in the post office. i'd go down there (calmly) to talk to them

Re: Invitation Delivery Times

I went late on Saturday, right before they closed.

I called the post office explaining myself. The woman I spoke to yesterday said they don't hold any mail in that location so if it came in, it went out. She also said doing things by hand always takes longer than by machine.

I called again this morning and another woman said not to worry, they will most likely start arriving today or tomorrow.

I'm just hoping that whoever canceled them was just really slow about it so they didn't really go out until Monday or Tuesday.

Almost all of our invitations were going to NYC addresses.

I don't know what to do! I just wish some of them would start showing up so I'd know they were on their way....

As long as they get them eventually even if it took a while.

How long did it take guests to get them, the ones that did arrive? A week, two weeks?

Re: Invitation Delivery Times

I dropped mine off at the post office to be hand canceled too...and didnt physically get to see them do it but I got the name of the person that I gave them to and told him that if there were any problems with my invitations getting lost...I would find him. I was sleepless until the first person got theirs.

As far as local people getting their invitations...everyone should receive them the next day. The longest travel time was to Florida...and that took 2 days in between before anyone got them. I know its too late but mailing on a Monday is probably the best way to get an idea of travel times, so there are no days during transit that the mail will just sit there (Sundays).

I would go to the PO you used and explain the situation, and ask them to check the counter area that you dropped off your invitations at. And if they aren't received by anyone by tomorrow...I would ask the PO who is liable for lost hand canceled mail

I dont know what to do. I am at a complete loss

Still nothing today. I called the post office screaming several times. I keep getting told ' I dont know what to tell you.' Someone is doing research and then they are going to call me back...

What do i do???? I am in complete panic mode.

Did anyone else go through this? Did anyone else's invitations take a really long time to get there? Anyone??

I can't breathe I am sobbing so much

I took 50 of them to the PO by work & watched them hand cancel them.. Guest got them next day... Fh dropped them off at the post office to be hand cancelled & he didn't watch. They ended up putting them thru the machine. I was livid. But they still arrived within like 2 days. Sorry girl. Go there and give them h*ll!!!

I drop my invites off at the Post Office this morning in Flushing, and they wouldn't let me hand cancel them. I'm praying all goes well and everyone receives their invite. Fingers crossed!
