So I sent out my invitations on Saturday. I brought them to the local post office and asked they be hand canceled (there is an embellishment and one less machine they have to go through the better). The man behind the counter said not a problem, he would take care of it.
I don't know of anyone who has gotten them yet. I called the post office and the woman I spoke to said people should start receiving them today or at the latest by the end of the week. I put $.24 more postage than necessary on them (I had already bought the special stamps I wanted to use so I just used them) so I know the postage isn't a problem.
How long did it take for your guests to start getting them? I'm worried!

Any news yet?
I think you have to realize that the storm hit this weekend too. Maybe that had alot to do with it.

Re: Invitation Delivery Times
when i mailed mine out, i sent them all out of Manhattan and some people on the city were getting them the next day. people in Long Island/New Jersey were getting them like 2 days later
But, if you mailed yours out on Saturday, don't forget, that with the storm, everything was delayed for a couple of days, so people who might have gotten them today, may get them tomorrow.

Actually I sent them out LAST Saturday...August 20th. The OP is from last week. Nothing to do with the storm...
FH is finally home from his trip so he went to the post office today. They are 100% they are not still in the post office where we dropped them off. The manager of that branch is trying everything she can to track them down. She just called me to get some more info...
I just hope they don't need to be re-printed! I really can't afford another $1000+ on something we already bought! But we will do what we have to....this isn't something we can just cut our losses with...we HAVE to have invitations, and I REFUSE to send out other ones when I am so in love with ours!
This is just an awful awful situation. I don't know what I'm going to do.

Not one single person. Have received no responses. Either in the mail or online rsvps (which we made an option).

Re: Invitation Delivery Times
I experienced the exact same thing so my advice would be not to worry just yet!! I'm up in Boston, mailed my invites on a Tuesday a few weeks ago. Wasn't planning on hand canceling but a PO worker saw me with the huge box and said she'd do it for me to 'keep them pretty.' Fast forward to the next Saturday and even friends that lived A BLOCK away from us/the post office had not yet received them. People finally started getting them on Monday (so almost a full week after I gave them to the PO lady) and people in other cities/states didn't get them til almost 9 days later. I'm assuming the lady that offered to hand cancel put them on a desk til she had time to do it. Just give it another few days (esp given the storm)

Re: Invitation Delivery Times
I mailed mine on Tues. and people were receiving them. I didn't ask for hand canceling but it looks like they were anyway. I'm north of Boston and my mom didn't get hers in Bklyn till Fri. give it a few more days then rip the USPS a new one. I went a few towns over to a different post office cause the one by me in Salem stinks.

Thanks for this! I'm going to wait until the end of the week. That will give it two full weeks. Then I will start to talk about re-doing them....

Re: Invitation Delivery Times
Maybe then are hand processing each invite. Are the envelopes bigger or a different size? I aqm sure you had the post office weigh the invite before putting on postage!
Try mailing another invite - that is if you have an extra to yourself in the same post office and see how long it takes.
