Okay so I was just reading a post on the BHB board. Someone had asked if it was okay to put 'Adult Reception' on the invite....... Looks like most of the responses said thats not okay...just put the names of who is invited on the envelope blah blah blah.
I was going to put Adult reception on my Reception cards in the corner......is that lame? Knowing the people in my family, if say the envelope is address to Mr&Mrs Danny SoandSo.....they WOULD bring their kids........
What would you do or have you done?
Thanks!

Re: Invitation ettiquite question
I know that it is considered a 'no-no' lol and that it is 'frowned upon' by the etiquette people... whoever the hell they are lol, but then again-- the etiquette people never had to worry about crazy Aunt Louise bringing her 10 kids!! LOL And Emily Post never had to pay full price for 15 uninvited children that just showed up, ran all over the reception the whole time, ate too much cake and threw up on the DJ!

I wanted to put that too, then my mom said what?! You can't do that!
So I took it off. She said to just address it to whomever you want to come on the inside envelope. Plus, word has gotten around to the relatives to leave the kiddies home
Maybe you should put down 'babysitter available' then they'll get the hint.. haha

I don't see a problem with it. I just think it makes it clear that it is an adult reception.

LOL I try
Luckily, I don't have this problem at all so I don't need to worry about putting anything on the invites like that-- but I gotta say, even though I'm all about etiquette-- I feel for the poor girls that have to deal with this stuff!!! I really do!

Re: Invitation ettiquite question
I don't know if you saw my reply... If you want to do it then do it!
Believe me the people who don't do it just complain later that 'Why did they reply for their 5 kids if it was just addressed to them' and have to sit and Biotch and moan about why why why, and then stress about calling them. Its our wedding and we can do what we want...
Here is my response from the other thread!
I did! and I am glad!
I just ordered my invites, and instead of putting Adult Reception on the actual invite...
I put it in the corner of the RSVP card... That's what they told me to do at the store.. that way when they go to reply for their child they automatically see it on the RSVP card.
Hope that helped!

That only works if you are making your invitations, or if you hand write the number in...
I was going to do that originally when I was going to DIY the invites... but decided against it.
But its def a good idea if you are doing DIY!

Re: Invitation ettiquite question
I remember receiving a black tie optional invite with Adult Reception written on the lower right...i sure am going to put it on my Reception card on my invite...it's also plastered all over my website...but i also will have info about the babysitting provided for OOTers...i am putting a place on my response card for people requiring babysitting...i could care less about proper etiquette in this case....no freakin kids at my wedding! (besides the BP kids)

Re: Invitation ettiquite question
I didn't do reception cards yet but at the bottom of my response card I wrote Adult Reception....I really don't care if it is not 'proper etiquette' I don't want them bringing there kids and I will have to say it somehow, I think it looked fine

Re: Invitation ettiquite question
I just hope that if you don't include it, you dont have to have the awkward conversation with people that respond back with their children included. We are having an adult reception, but everyone that has kids knows about it, so we did not have to include it on the invites...

Re: Invitation ettiquite question
I think its fine. Especially since you have people in ur family who dont pay attention to the out envelope when it specficially invites Mr. and Mrs. So and so..not Mr. and Mrs. so and so and 10kids..

I think you should do what you need to do. Luckily, I do not have any really young children in my family with the exception of two of my cousins (10 and 12), so they are going to come. I am sure they will be fine.

Re: Invitation ettiquite question
I wouldn't care what the right and wrong thing is because there isn't its what you want but in my opinion I wouldn't put that. If they do respond with kids I would call to say I'm sorry but there are no kids invited or something along those lines but I wouldn't put it on my invite or response cards. People need to respect who its addressed to and if its not addressed to kids they need to understand that.

Re: Invitation ettiquite question
my motto is its my wedding i do what ever the f*ck i want to do ...so i dont follow those foolish rules they only bring headaches who wants to call back 20 guest and tell them umm ur kids cant come....u should try to put it all the way at the bottom of the response cards....
