Hi ladies, I am trying to find a good place to look at invitations. I was going to have ours custom made, but I have no idea where to begin, so I thought I would look at some books. I went to Hallmark, but no one helps out there, and all the books are too overwhelming- they all started to look the same after a while! I have gotten recommendations for Proper Paper in Plainview (try saying that 3 time fast ) and Simply Elegant in Bayside. Anyone been to either, or have any other places I can look? Regarding Proper Paper- my friends wife who spent a ton on her wedding sent me there, and I know she has EXPENSIVE taste. I am looking to spend about $500 for 150 invites, do they have reasonable prices there?

Have you checked our Laura from LA Productions? Her custom made invites are beautiful. I love Curly's and Liz's invites.

You know what I am going to say.........Laura, from LA Productions!!. Here is the thing. You do not HAVE to have custom made invitations from her. She brings the traditional books as well. She is a distributor of Carlson, etc, etc.. as well. If you have them custom made you don't really NEED to know what you want. Just have maybe a theme or color scheme in mind and she makes like a gazillion samples for you or you could choose from the books. Even if you don't like the samples you can pick and choose from a variety of invites and come up with one you like. That's what i did. Good Luck Chica

We are getting custom invites from lizarddesigns. Liz is wonderful to work with and the price was very reasonable too. And the best part is that she'll address and stamp the envelopes for you!! Good luck with your search : ).

I made an appointment at Simply Elegant for Saturday, and have to call Laura to set up an appt w. her (I did not realize that she has books too-thaks Karina!). Hopefully between the two I can get some idea of what I like...and then I have to get the OK from FH

I vote for Simply Elegant....Gail is a doll!! We went last Wed and ordered our invites. I don't know if she custom makes them but she has A LOT of books ranging from inexpensive to very expensive. She spent A LOT of time with us, and didn't rush us on any decisions (and we were ANNOYING)!!! I think her prices werew great. She gives 25% discount on invites (30% on orders over $300). My invites will be here in 2 about 2 weeks..I'm so excited!!
