Invitation Opinions...Honesty appreciated
So, we've placed our order for our Pocketfold invitations and are in the process of choosing the design. This is the first draft of our invite and I've already asked the designer to change the font to all script. Font aside, I'd like your opinions about the folder color. I initially wanted the folder the be blac, as depicted. My mother, grandmother, and fiance all think it looks too dark and morbid. They went so far as to say it looked like a funeral invitation. I can still change to color of the folder. Please give your honest opinions.

I like the monogram sticker idea. But IMO, the black envelope is a bit harsh, but if you like it, you have to say so to everyone else! I've been fighting tooth and nail for things I've wanted or not wanted, but I'm sticking to my guns on them.Remember... this is your's and FH's day.... you do what you want. Don't change because someone said it wouldn't be right cause you'll look back and possibly regret it.

I voted 'change folder to white' but are black and white your only choices, or the only ones you like? I like the look of the invitation a lot, not sure about the black.

I love the look...the mix of black, white and red looks very formal. It's very modern (is that the look you are going for? If so, that invitation nails it) My only hesitation on the black is the reaction of people and say the same thing your family did.
So it really boils down to do you care? I love the look though.

We can choose from white, black, red, or silver/grey for the folder. We placed our order during a sale & must incorporate red into the invitation (it was a condition of the sale pricing). I think choosing the silver/grey folder will add too many colors to the mix. I'm not too thrilled with a red folder since it'll end up looking too much like a Valentine's Day theme. That's why I asked about switching to a white folder and made no mention of our other options.

I actually like the idea of the red one - it would really be different! But since you don't think you would like it, I am sticking with white

If I have the writing in red, what colors would I use for the pocketfold and mount?

I can do that; however, I worry that it's a lot of red considering there's no red incorporated into anything else having to do with our wedding.
Who knew I'd obsess so much over invitations!
