invitation problem...kinda long

sorry so long!

so i have been making the list of addresses for the wedding invitations..i told fh i would do it bc i know how anal i get with this type of thing and i need to be really organized...so i made my list in an excel spread sheet so it would be easier to print ...on the list i put everyone who is single with a guest...after FH saw the list he told me that i need to take all the guests off his side of the family bc his family 'doesnt do that'..he told me that they dont ever invite family members with guests and when the time comes if there is a cousin or and aunt or uncle or sumthin who is in a serious relationship they tell them they can bring a guest

so for example on my list my aunt and uncle got their own invite and each cousin is invited with a guest so they each get their own invitation even tho they live in the same house...FH told me not to send so many invitations to one house bc its a waste of money and we can just tell them they can bring a guest..

now for me i think its really confusing ...i need for myself every single person thats getting invited including guests to be writting down in front of me...two weeks before the wedding i dnt want to have to sit there and think about who is in a serious relationship and call them to ask if they are bringing a guest and add more ppl on to our list..id rather be prepared and have a list of the max amount of ppl that can show up

i also think its really rude not to invite people without a guest...if i was invited to a wedding i think i would be alil upset if i wasnt invited with a guest...and then if some ppl show up with a guest others might get offended bc they will feel like they didnt get the opportunity to bring a guest...

am i crazy or do you think everyone should be getting their own seperate invite with a guest?

update: i forgot to tell you all that deleting his guests are only gunna eliminate abot 20 ppl...and we know for a fact that at least half of them are def not going to bring a guest

We're not inviting anyone with a guest unless they are in a serious relationship...then again we are trying to keep the wedding small.

We're not inviting people with a guest unless they are in a relationship, engaged, or married. If we invited every person with a guest we would be inviting 500 people, which we don't want. So I think this is something that you and FH really need to work out. I DO think, however, that you should both come to an agreement about this.

ETA: I DO think that if you are doing guests, then your Aunt & Uncle should get one invitation & your Cousin & Guest should get another.

I also think if you decide not to have guests, your Aunt & Uncle should get one invitation & your Cousin (pending he/she is 18+) should get another.

omg okay you are right for your family i would mail them out the way you want aunt uncle one and cousin and guest another, for his family speak with his mother and get her opinon she ( it sher family)may have the same view as you its more apporiate to say and guest to anyone who is over 18, if she says dont sent and guest then dont count on that they will bring a date and sent one invite to the house, but YOU are correct in this matter FH just wants save money all man are like that lol

1st question..

how old is your cousin?

If i sent a invite to every cousin who still lived at home with their parents i would be sending 5 invitations to 1 house which is just absurd imo and a waste of $. I'm going to say, 'Mr. so and so and family' and leave it at that.
If i know one of the other cousins is in a serious relationship i'll follow up the invite with a phone call saying he can bring his gf.

Depending on how high my guest list gets that's what will be my deciding factor on if i invite people w/guest.

If FH says his family doesn't do that then leave it like that and just worry about your side and the friends. In the end it'll end up saving u guys more $.
