It really would depend on what you're looking for, letterpress, foil, embossed, and what type of paper etc. I found that on average a set would go around $6-$10. For more fancy 'luxury' types, it went from $35-$55 a set. I went to a vendor in the city and she wanted around $50 an invite. I was able to get it for more than half of what that vendor quoted me for mine going through my cousin. So def do some shopping around.

Invitations - Long Island Weddings
i've found the average price of an invite is $8-10. It is significantly cheaper if you order online and also the less enclosure cards you have the lower the price. once you start adding addressing, brooches, and letter press the price increases significantly.

As the other ladies have mentioned the average price per invitation really depends on what you want. FH and I decided invitations we'd rather put more money toward something at our reception than our invitations, so we decided to do print ours ourselves. I bought 'Brides' printable invitations from Michaels and they are right at $1 each before postage (including money for printing).
Whatever you choose be such to budget for postage! The rules are so different depending on shape, uniformity of thickness and weight of your invitations.

We chose reasonable priced invites that were much cheaper than what others are quoting on here because we would rather spend extra money on photos, video and photobooth. Most people throw out the invite anyway except for close family members.

This! I am getting mine from Davids Bridal- about $350-$400 for 185 invites. I'm not big into the invitations so I refuse to spend more than $500.

This was my plan too, it's so easy we did it for my parents 25th anniversary. But I decided to check on line bc I have a HUGE diy list anything I could take off would help. I stumbled on this site and they r very reasonable!! It comes out to like $1.25-$1.50 per invite and pocket fold type invites are like $3? If I remember correctly! Def check them out!! http://www.invitesweddings.com/capable-white-and-black-wedding-invitation-iwi130-p-130.html Also groupon has an offer for Vista print. $35 for $100 on printing or $70 for $200 in printing!!

Re: Invitations
Def search online. Many sites offer great discounts. I got beautiful invitations from Michaels for under $5 a set (with address printing)and the customer service was amazing to work with. I also found that mediaplus.com offers 40% off all carlson craft and other invitations.

Re: Invitations
Depends. We're having the invitation with a matte backing, a reception card, RSVP card, RSVP envelope, main envelope, directions card and a belly band around the invitation. All that, our invitations came out to $5.55 an invite. But we're paying extra for the designer to print the addresses on the envelopes.

Wow, people spend alot more than I realized. Im paying just under 250 for 96 invitations and I felt like I was spending too much. Im using invitations by dawn. I plan on ordering this weekend. You can order samples from there too.
