Invitations...wording and prices

Invitations...wording and prices

First: has anyone found invites (125) for around $200?

Second: How is everyone phrasing their invite wording when it comes to the parents? Are you citing Bride's parents are hosting? Both? B + G and parents listed as parents?

My parents are contributing more than FH's parents, but neither are covering the hall, well my parents like maybe 1/2 with their gift...

Yes, but ONLY the invite. That means without RSVP's, RH, envelopes etc. It stinks, I never knew invites could be so expensive.

We did

Mr. John Smith
&
Mr. & Mrs. John Smith

request the honour of your presence
at the marriage of

Me with Middle name
&
DH with Middle name

blah blah blah

we felt that even tho the parents werent giving equal amounts it was still an important day to them so we couldnt see not putting them on the invitation.

You can do

Together with their parents

You
&
DH

etc.

Look at verseit.com ~ tons of helpful sayings and wordings there

Also for cheap invites try exclusivelyweddings.com or even Staples if you are willing to print them yourself~>this will save you alot of money in the end.

If you are bent on a certain inviation style and you really like it, you can order just the invite with the envelope and/or just the rsvp, then go to staples and buy card stock and print up your own RSVP and/or reception card if necessary. It will take time and it will be DIY but its simple once you get the layout for what you want.

look into Chole B (at Papyrus) 125 invites, 125 rsvp cards all envelopes and return address was about $400

As far as the wording if both sets of parents are contributing you should name them both

if you and your FH are footing most of th bill you can say:

Jane doe and John Smith along with their parents invite you...blah blah blah

I would definitely consider DIY invites. I bought these really pretty invites from Staples..originaly 89, clearance- 13.95. It came with 100 invitations, 100 envelopes, 100 thank yous, 100 rsvp cards, 100 placecards, and a bunch of other stuff. I bought them for my eparty invitations b/c I couldn't find any in the stores that weren't cheesy. I would have probably ended up paying more for the card packs of 8. And now...I have all of this extra stationary.
It really wasn't very hard to do. It took me about 30 minutes to set up the invitation on Microsoft Word...then the printer did the rest! It would probably cost about 100 dollars to DIY...w/ the cost of ink.

I'm getting 100 invites (+blank outer & inner envelopes) and 100 response cards for under $200 from the following site:
The American Wedding

We're paying for the wedding ourselves so sorry, no ideas about the wording about parents

Thanks for your posts! These are really helpful.. we found invites we like at Direct Buy (50% off retail) and I like them, but for the price $164 for the invite, printed outer envelope, unlined inner env. and response card I felt like it would be silly not to go with that but I had to check! I would love to do colored envelopes though... maybe I'll DIY that with a stamp on the front to mimic the $2000 ones I loved...

His parents are only doing the rehearsal dinner but they wanted they names on it anyway so we put:

mr. and mrs. john smith
request your presence blah
at the marriage blah blah
loribeth 2728
to
one hot studmuffin
the son of mr. and Mrs. studmuffin

etc.

(My parents are paying for the reception )
