Ok i already sent my list to the calligrapher but i can email her to make the change since she just has to add to it.
Here is the problem, on outer envelopes you do NOT write and guest, just the persons name and then you use the inner envelope to write their name plus 'and guest' problem is that i do not have envelopes, they are boxed invitations. We are inviting everybody with and guest. Most people are in relationships but there are some single people of course, i sent the excel sheet with my guest list and addresses and put single people just with their name. I am hoping they'll assume its with and guest since most guests assume that haha. Many that i am close with i will let them know but now im afraid some will think that they weren't invited with a guest. Should i just write and guest on the boxed invite or is there any other way to let them know i know some single guests will come alone regardless and i know which ones will but i think theres a few that will want to bring a guest
*****UPDATED***** thank you ladies, i emailed calligrapher and told her to put and guest next to each single person invited

Re: Invite dilemma
why would they assume anything???
in fact, most brides on here who aren't inviting 'and guest' would be pissssed if their guests assumed that they could bring a guest, right?
i don't see any way around putting all the information on the lid of the boxes.
the more modern invitation companies don't have inner envelopes anymore anyway, so its not like its uncommon for their to be only one envelope/box.

Re: Invite dilemma
you hear it all the time on these boards (and you may even write it yourself)...'proper' etiquette rules can be thrown out the window if that's what you want.
I say write 'and guest' on the outside of the envelope...I plan to do the same even though I have inner envelopes

haha thats why i said they assume because it seems most brides on here have that problem with guests always just assuming they are invited with a guest.
So I guess its ok to put and guest then, ok good ill email her right away...Thank you so much

Re: Invite dilemma
i think that if there is no inner envelope to put 'and guest' on, it is OK to put it on the outer.
I wuold definitely put and guest on all of them though. For my eparty, I forgot to put 'and guest' on the env. of a friend and she thought her bf wasnt invited. So of course I felt like an asss.

Re: Invite dilemma
denise i think in your case you can put and guest on the outside no one would think that is informal- you dont have anywhere else to put it- no worries I cant wait to see the pics of them!

Re: Invite dilemma
i was just thinking about this last night when i was putting together what i wanted for my invites!!!
maybe fm presushsmurf (i dont know if her sn is correct). but she did boxed invites and her invite wasn't in an inner envelope. she might have a good solution that hasn't been thought of.

Re: Invite dilemma
I would say just put the '& Guest' on the outer envelopes. I have inner envelopes and am writing nothing on them (i'm just lazy) so I'm putting the and guest on the outer ones. plus, i don't think that many people even know the 'proper' ettiquette anyways.... i'd put it just cuz i think most people will actually assume they can't bring a guest.

Re: Invite dilemma
Thank you ladies, when i sent over the guest list i just listed everybody on my list...I had so much to type out that i was typing and just putting what i have on my list. Then after I was like 'Oh wait i didnt write and guest' i said ok youre not supposed to write it anyways so ill leave it alone(i had spent 3 hours typing it all in bc i kept having to call ppl to get updated addresses or to find out names of their serious bf and or gf) i didnt feel like going back and putting and guest for everybody. But then after i realized OH NO some ppl will think theyre not invited with a guest. But thank you for all your help ladies, I emailed her and told her to put and guest

WRITE AND GUEST ON THE BOX. I always see invites addressed that way
