Invite question - colors
Is it a weird to not have invite colors that match the wedding colors?I ask because I am thinking of a navy blue and ivory invite (FI loves navy blue) but the wedding colors will be purple and lavender.
The only reason for this is the invite design that I really like does not come in purple, lavender or even anything close to my wedding colors.
Thanks.

Re: Invite question - colors
I don't think it matters. I don't think the invitations have to match wedding colors. Most people probably won't even notice.

Re: Invite question - colors
FYI - I really like the idea of an ivory 7 x 7 pocket fold, navy blue background card, ivory invite with navy blue lettering - all sealed with navy blue sheer organza. This is the link.

Re: Invite question - colors
I actually think if you're going with a color invitation that it should go with your wedding colors.

Re: Invite question - colors
I don't think too many people notice if the invitations fit in with the theme, just pick the ones you like best.

Re: Invite question - colors
i dont think it really matters unless you had your heart completely set on them matching your wedding colors. if you didn't then i say just go for the ones you loved.

Re: Invite question - colors
I'm not matching really either. Instead of light blue I'm using a dark sapphire-navy for invites. I really don't think it matters. Its cool to have a theme from the STD to all the reception stuff but hard to do!

Re: Invite question - colors
I don't think you need to match. If you really love the invite, don't worry about it. Neither my STD nor my invites will match with my colors. (I would have liked it to match, but my colors wouldn't look good with the design).

Re: Invite question - colors
I ordered a sample from mygatsby.com of the 7 x 7 pocketfold invite. I'm not sure if robin's egg is lavender or not. It looks light blue on my computer at work? We'll see.If not, I can just do a white pocketfold, white invite card with purple lettering and a purple ribbon closure.
