Invite that says 'money from Invitees, NO Gifts'..

Original post by Kathy116

Am I the only one that thinks this is a little pushy or just 'different'?

It's from a BRIDAL SHOWER invite that I received.

That is really tacky! A bridal shower is something that you are supposed to get gifts, the wedding itself is where you get money. I wouldnt even go to the shower if I got an invitation like this!

So, the question is...

Have you decided to go? & will you be bringing a gift? You have to let us know...

I just think its rude!! People may be embarrassed if they can't give a decent cash gift and feel better in buying something themselves. Its a gift, not payment to go to the party. I personally would never say anything like that.

Give her $5 so she can go buy some class.

LMAO -- almost exactly what I was gonna say!!! This is terrible!!!!

HOWEVER.... I must say that times change and people's ideas of proper etiquette also change. I think that there SHOULD be some way, some POLITE and DECENT, acceptable way to hint at a cash gift by this point time.

Alot of you have said that you prefer cash but would never ask for it this way and I agree. Alot of people don't need to register or don't want to. I also agree that showers are about giving gifts so it's already assumed that people are going to be bringing gifts... we register because we expect gifts so why can't there be a polite way to gently suggest that you'd prefer cash? Somebody should have come up with it by now.... Anyway, THIS IS DEFINITELY NOT IT!

I would totally bring a gift!!!

And make it huge, with big bows and lots of tape!

I'd be so embarrased if it was for my shower. I wonder if the bride knows.

there are nicer ways to put it...
even saying 'since the couple has already furnished their house money would be prefered' would be a little better...
OR a registry for your honeymoon, or registry where people can donate to an account towards a house, or the brides mother can spread the word that the couple has everything they need, and now are focusing on saving...

Oooowwhhfffa!! Wow, I'm surprised she didn't add 'A minimum gift of $$$ is required'
Holy cow!!

I'd be stopping by the dollar store before that event to go gift shopping.

Wow, some set!!
