Invite Wording ? Can you guys help a 07 er out please ??

K, Just wondering how are you wording your invites when BOTH sets of parents are divorced ?

Please dont ask , whos paying , as thats not the issue at hand.. Both FH & I are , but I dont want to diss respect my parenst nor his & exclude them from the invite..

I guess my question is how the heck do I word it . Do I put my moms name first or my dads ?

Mr Sal &*^^* & Ms Barbara *&*((
Request the honour ,,
blah blah blah ,

or do I put

Ms Barbara *&&% & Mr Sal &&*()(

traditionally, the man's name comes first. it doesn't really matter though. Or why don't you make it REALLY easy on yourselves and write 'Together with their parents...' that way you don't have to write any names, but still include them on the invite.

good suggestion, I agree with the 'together with our parents' wording

No can do.. Although it sounds great , old italian family , would flip the f out ,,

Some how I have to figure out how to word this traditionally , although all out parents are divorced.. Even thought they arent paying for it , donest negate that there names should still be included,

A 07 brides suggested

Ms. Barbara &*()) & Mr. Salvatore *&^&$%$
request the honor of your presence of their daughter
toni to Michael
son of
Mrs Theresa *&^%$ & Mr Michael***** Sr

Sounds good , No ?

I think that sounds great. If your parents are not comfortable with the 'and' you can also put their names on two seperate lines like:

Mr. John Smith
Ms. Jane Doe
request the honor of your presence
at the marraige of their daughter

Toni
to
Mr. Michael XXX

son of
Mr. Michael Senior
Mrs. Michael Mom

ETA: My in-laws names are Toni and Michael and they have been married for 35 years!!

my parents are divorced and both remarried and im close to both step parents, so I went with 'together with our parents' just because it was soooo many names when i typed it out........I think the way you have it with both their names is fine!
Here is a quote from Cranes Wedding Invite Etiquette:
The proper way to word an invitation when the bride's parents are divorced is to list the names of the bride's parents at the top of the invitation. Her mother's name is on the first line and her father's name is on the line beneath it. The lines are not separated by 'and.'

If the bride's mother has not remarried, she uses 'Mrs.' followed by her first name, maiden name, and married name. The old etiquette called for using just her maiden name and her last name, preceded by 'Mrs.' The change evolved over the years as it was increasingly felt that the old usage was too impersonal.

When the bride's mother is divorced from the bride's father and has remarried, she uses 'Mrs.' followed by her husband's full name

Our parents are divorced (one is in the process) and we used something like:

Together with the blessings of our parents, blah blah, blah.....
