Invite wording - parents divorced

Invite wording - parents divorced

I've looked it up and had a difficult finding suggested wording for my situation. Please advise!
My parents are divorced, but still close. My mother is re-married. They are all hosting the wedding. I want my father's name to go first (b/c I don't think it's fair to have my mother's husband before him), and my mother wants her full name on the invite too (Not just Mr. and Mrs. John Doe.)

What do you think?

Re: Invite wording - parents divorced

WHat i am doing because my parents are divorced. My mom and stepfather are paying for a majority of the wedding so they are going first. It will say

Mr. & Mrs. John Doe
along with
Mr. John Smith

If you want to write out their names
Mr. John Doe & Mrs. Jane doe
along with
Mr. John Smith

In your case
Mr. John Smith
along with
Mr. John Doe & Mrs. Jane Doe

Thanks - it's annoying because I know the wording will look funny:

Mr. John Doe
along with
Mrs. Sally Smith and Mr. Joe Smith

seems weird to me since mom and new hubby have the same last name (atleast for the wedding, she actually still hyphenates her name with my father's name and new husband's name but thought it would be more appropriate to drop dad's name for the invite).

my parents are divorced too. on my invitation it said.....our names, together with their parents,
my mom on one line and then my father listed separately below, and mr. and mrs. (his parents). i found it hard too. my father is remarried but i didnt put my stepmom's name on the invite as we are paying for just about everything ourselves i didnt feel the need to include everyone, but did want our parents names on there. dont know if that makes any sense, sorry!

Re: Invite wording - parents divorced

I will be having the same problem with my divorced parents only my mother will not be paying for any of the reception or anything else for that matter, except maybe the dress (we are not that close and she lives in Fl).

Should I even put her name on the invitation when she is not really contributing towards the wedding? I don't want to offend her but I feel my father has helped with the deposit and deserves to be on there where as my mother already told me she can not help with the weddding. Help

Are your parents civil enough that she will recognize the fact that he is contributing and should be acknowledged? Maybe you can just ask her - tell her you've been thinking about and wonder if it would offend her.

I have the same problem, although my mom is contributing a little. I felt though that since my dad is paying most of it - I should put him first. I hope my mom doesn't pick up on the bad etiquette though!
