Invite wording question....

Invite wording question....

Not sure how to do this..... if a couple is engaged and living together, the woman is divorced, with 3 children.

Outside:

Mr. Sean G******
address
Baltimore, MD 21234

Inside:
Uncle Sean, Michelle, Olivia, Abigail and Grace.

Is that right?

And, if I have friends who are dating, but not living together, is it okay to send to the more responsible friend, outside addressed to said friend, inside with both names?

I put both names regardless if they live together or not. Its an invitation so its ok if its addressed to both even though they don't live together...as long as one name is on there of a person who lives at the house then that is all that matters. I would send it to the one you know best

I would put the couples name on the outside and then the inner envelope put their names and kids names

Or, is it Ms.?

Re: Invite wording question....

yeah i really didnt follow etiquette lol
also a widow is supposed to be
Mrs. Husbands Name

Like Mrs. Joe Smith

but i thought it would make them sad to see that so i just did Mrs. Jane Smith which is a faux pas but i dont care!!

Re: Invite wording question....

i think i did a mish mosh depending on who the person or people were (im talking about STD's)
but i will probably do the same on invites
im going to start working on my addresses next week and hopefully get my envelopes done before school starts

for couples that are not married i did put their names on separate lines
people being invited with children i wrote 'and family' and then i will put their individual names on the inside envelopes

You really should use Ms. Kristi ******

Miss makes me thinks of a little girl and it's safe b/c it's not insulting that's how we address in my office.

One of my concerns, and, this might be crazy, is that, if I don't put 'and family' they won't pay attention to the inside envelope. I don't know if people generally know to look at the inside envelope?

We were recently invited to a wedding, and, on the outside it was addressed to FH, and I got all pissed thinking I wasn't invited, but, my name was on the inside envelope.

Re: Invite wording question....

you mean if you do put and family? sorry, im confused

are you stuffing the envelopes yourself?
you should put the 2nd envelope in so that the names on inside envelope are there when you open first envelope if that makes sense

in other words put it backwards instead of having envelope flap in front

Re: Invite wording question....

are you having kids or no?
if you just put mr. and mrs. then that is who is invited - not kids
people should not assume
if it says 'and family' then the kids are included

If I do not put and family, I don't want them to think the kids aren't invited. And, yes, I plan on stuffing them that way.

We are having most kids, first cousins, and any other close cousins.

Re: Invite wording question....

if you are having kids then you can either put 'and family' or put their names on the envelope

do you not want to write 'and family'?
i think thats the easiest way
we are having A LOT of kids!
we have 11 nieces and nephews and a few cousins
OR, you can write:

The Smith Family
1 Happy Lane
Long Island, NY 11234

Re: Invite wording question....

I'm just unsure of the 'and family' thing..... it is definitely the easiest way to do it, I'll see what FH says about it.

(Oh, the big deals we make about the smallest things. )
