Inviting Coworkers to your Wedding question

What are the official rules for inviting people you work with to the wedding?

I work in a unique situation. I work in a a large corporate office setting that has gone through a lot of departmental restructuring over the past year, where I currently work closely with a team of 10 other individuals (including my boss)

We have recently restructured so I have 3 more who were let go that I am close with.

Out of this group there are 3 people I'm not close with.

Most of them are married and will require plus ones. I unfortunately am hovering at 175 right now and cannot fit all of them in, but I feel awkward and horrible leaving 3 or 4 of them out.

Any advice?

I'm inviting some coworkers and since they all know each other and will be sitting together I'm not giving them plus ones. If I did then I wouldn't be able to invite them all. Also, you don't have to invite the 3 that you aren't close with. Only invite people who you want there

Yes I agree I would only invite the ones your close with, just make sure you mail the invitations as hand delivering the would make things awkward.

I agree with this. My mom invited all her co-workers that she was close with, but they did not get plus ones as well, since they all knew each other. However, she isn't close with her unit manager, but she still invited her due to office politics I guess. All were completely fine with it and understanding none the less. And I recently started a new job 3 months before my wedding, and didn't invite anyone from work since I didn't know them that well yet. They didn't seem irked by it and seemed genuinely excited for me regardless. Weddings are expensive enough, and your co-workers should know this, so invite who you want there.

I only invited a select group of people from work that I am close with. I invited them with their +1 because I know most of their wives/bfs/gfs/husbands... I did not send them STD to avoid any gossip in my department about the wedding. I spoke to them in private and told them to save the date and explained that I was only inviting a small group of people so it would be appreciated if they didn't discuss it.

I was in the same boat as you...I've been at my company for over 10 years and I'm friendly with everyone! But I didn't have the room. So I decided, my immediate boss would be invited. And if I hung out with you OUTSIDE of work, you got an invite. Otherwise my entire wedding would have been coworkers!

I would just invite those you are closest with. I was super stressed about this, and didn't end up doing what I really wanted in the end because I didn't want to offend people. If I would have known that no one would have been offended, I would have invited more.

I only have two people in my department, a co-worker and my boss, so I invited them both. Then I invited another co-worker (sales director), who I'm close with and who is also close with my boss. I gave the sales director a plus one because my boss, the sales director and her husband, hang out quite a bit, and I gave my co-worker a plus one.

Invite those who you are close with at work. If I need to make my minimum, I'll cast the net to a couple more co-workers who I would want there.
