every woman invited to the wedding should be invited to the shower..

im pretty sure thats proper...to invite EVERY woman invited to the wedding.. but my moms using her judgement on whos invited but as of now just close family and friends is up to 65 people so its hard!

i am only inviting people i am close to. I don't think you have to invite everyone. I would have a bunch of strange women at my party. weird for me/weird for them!

I think you should only invite everyone to the shower if you're having a small wedding, and as a consequence of not inviting everyone, you will exclude a few and possibly create hurt feelings.

If you are having a larger wedding, just invite those who you are close to. I realize the intent of inviting everyone is to be inclusive, but from an outside perspective, if your third cousin once removed who lives 2,000 miles away and whom you haven't seen in five years is invited to the shower, it looks like a gift grab.

No way, that would mean my shower would be about 150 ppl or more. BUT not only that theres ppl invited to the wedding such as fh's co-workers, i dont know their wives well most of the wives i met like once or twice at company functions but still. I am inviting fh's friends girlfriends that i hang out with alot and im cool with, i also got invited to their showers and stuff, but theres a few that i am not that close with and honestly they would probably feel uncomfortable bc they don't even know others there

i personally will not be having every woman who is invited to our wedding at my shower...i prefer having a bit of a smaller shower...jmo as for our engagement party, we did the same thing...there were only people who we are closer to there

Oh, I'm glad to hear the responses

I dont know if everyone saw my post from the other night, but my mother called my FMIL to ask her to get a list of names and addresses for my shower and she told my mother that she has ATLEAST 50 ppl and my mother was like

My mother is like 'does she realize you dont invite everyone to the shower?'

I just hope my FMIL will understand, once my mother receives the lists and asks her to 'cut it' b/c we want to keep it smaller.

I mean, we're having like 200 ppl at the wedding - so that means she is like planning on asking EVERYONE to the shower - ughhhhhhh so annoying!

Close family and friends are the only ones who will be invited to my shower, I do not really care about what is proper ettiquette when it comes to this

it depends. I have a guest list of 410 people. There is no way I could invite all of them. you invite the women from your family and your very close friends to the wedding. We all have distance cousins and friends that are invited to the wedding that you do not have to invite to the shower.
