Are you doing this? Me and FH are still undecided. We have extra invites and it's not past the rsvp so we still can. His best man invited FH's family to his, which I was surprised at, but they did have 300 people at their wedding. I know for certain my MOH's dad won't be able to come and I'm almost certain my other BM's parents aren't going to come either. One of my family members made a big thing saying I had to extend an invite but I never heard of this.

Re: Inviting families of BP
Not unless we are close with the family as well. FH has one GM whose family he is inviting b/c he's lived across the street from them since he was 10 and they grew up together. I think they're the only BP family we're inviting (besides of course our own family members that are also in the BP).

Re: Inviting families of BP
I'm inviting one of my BM's entire immediate family (they have their own table).
FH is also inviting the parents of one of his GM. But that's it. I wouldn't invite the families unless we were close with them.

I've known both of their families since grammer school, but I rarely see them at all.

Then I don't really think its necessary. I see my friends moms once a month for dinner and email a lot.
If you have room, then go for it, but if not I dont think its a big deal.

Re: Inviting families of BP
A sorta related question... What about the parents of siblings' significant others?
My FH's sister bought a house with someone, another is engaged and the third is on the cusp of engagement. FH does not know the parents but since they are practically family, or just a matter of time, I thought maybe they should be invited. My parents were invited & attended the wedding of an already married sibling, prior to our engagement, and my family & I thought it a lovely gesture.
Thoughts?

Same thing in my case for my 3 BMs. Not inviting any of the GMs family because FH is not close to them/doesn't know them well.

Again, unless you guys are close with them I wouldn't invite them. Technically they are your FH's siblings family... not your FH's fam.

Re: Inviting families of BP
All of my BM members' families are invited. My MOH is my sis & one of my BM is FH's cousin so they're obvious.....but all my other BMs are my BFFs and their families are like my family so they are all invited. But not all of FH's GM familes are invited...at of non-related GM, only 1's family is invited.

Re: Inviting families of BP
I think this was an 'old school' thing. My mother said when she was younger her parents were always invites so she had a ride home!!
Obviously it's not customary now. I would only invite if you know them fairly well.

Re: Inviting families of BP
I invited my MOH's family, I'm very close to her brother's and sisters and her mother; so I wanted to invite them all to the wedding.
I did not invite my other friend who is a BM's family; I've only met them once.
