Inviting guests. . .

Inviting guests. . .

Soon to be and past brides, when you were first putting together your invite lists did anyone feel like they didn't have enough of people to invite?

I had today off from work so I sat down and started to compile a real list of people I would want to invite, A list and B list and the total of the two lists combined right now is 136, 15 of which are on the B list.

That leaves 121 definite invites, but out of those 121, at least 20 are probably 'no shows.'

that leaves me with 100 guests and my minimum is 120!

Did anyone else have this problem when they wrote their first serious guest list?

I laughed when I saw your post. The reason is because I was at my RH when we first booked and he wanted a minimum guarantee of 140 and I said OMG I don't know 140 people. Then I sat down with my parents and future in-laws. I am now inviting 210 people and that list was CUT. If you haven't sat down with your parents or in-laws to find out who's on their guest list, I wouldn't worry just yet, lol. Good luck :)

I'm in the same boat as you... I'm already worried I won't meet my minimum

I've already gotten my mother's list and FH has gotten the basic list from his mother too. At most there may be another 10 people that our mother's are unsure about whether or not they would like to invite them.

I wish I had that problem! FH is a social butterfly and has about a billion friends, not to mention a huge family! We don't have too many over what we want as our max at least.

Seeing as your wedding is 3/08, perhaps you will have more people to invite then? Maybe if you were to change jobs or something? If you just sat down for the first time, I wouldn't panic, I am sure you may have missed a few people. At least that happened to me, after I started my list, within the next month or so I thought of people that I was SHOCKED I didn't think of in the first place, it is hard to think of everyone for the first draft...give it time, more people may pop in your head!

Oh and did you get a list from the parents? We were thinking of giving them a table each for their friends...so that is another 20!

Yep already got the rough draft lists from both parents. I doubt I'll be changing jobs between now and the wedding unless something unforseen happens (I really really like my job right now).

The only thing I'm thinking is that I'll make more friends at work as opposed to acquaintances that I have now since I've only been employed there for just over a year and 7 months of that year was spent in training. Now that I'm in a different section maybe there will be more people that I become close with.

I know that there will be more people who accumulate over time. It's just sad that I can't even come up with a list of 120 people that I'm close enough with to invite to my wedding!

We put our preliminary list together last August before we went hall hunting and it's managed to grow substantially!!! There were people FH and FILs forgot about and people my parents decided they wanted to invite (mind you, I haven't added anyone!)

Honey be HAPPY! More people = bigger hall & more$$ I am SURE that you will find another 10 to invite at work once you settle in your department, you will make friends with your immediate co-workers. Wow - 7 months in training, what are you a rocket scientist??

Im the same way... I have a list of a little over 100, this weekend I looked at it closely and realize its probably 72 definite.. min 100.

Ive already begun thinking... 'do I pad the list with B/C list type people or do I just have the people adore there and see what the hall throws in for the extra $$'

AND ITS 7 MONTHS AWAY!
