Inviting officiant?
we are having a retired judge perform our ceremony, but we have only met him once, and won't see him again until the weding day. do i have to invite him? i don't want to commit a major faux pas... but money is super tight!!

I asked the same thing-and most girls did invite their officiant. So I did (We've spoken and met several times and I really like her) and turns out she can't make it anyway. If you've only met him once and money is tight-I say no. Who really cares about etiquette-I mean really he's a stranger to you-someone you are hiring for a service and if you can't afford it then you can't afford it.
If money is tight, you don't have to invite him. If you were having a religious ceremony and the officiant has known you and your family a long time then yes you should invite him but for someone you have only met once or twice then no.
that is what i was thinking... all of my friends getting married this year are having religious cermonies, so they are inviting their officiants, but i didn't think that would be appropriate for me, since we are paying him for his services.
