Joanna got me thinking with her question last week. My boss got married last year and I was not invited to his wedding. I had only been working there for him for about 10 months. Now I am wondering if I should invite him to mine, since by the time I get married I will have been working for him for 2 and a half years. Also, I want to invite a couple people I am friends with at work and don't want him to be insulted if I don't invite him. I know its early to think about this but its been on my mind. What do you think?

Re: Inviting people from work
I have been working in my department for 3 years it will be 5 at the time of the wedding and they are like my 2nd family since I probably see them more then my own so I am inviting them all its like 11 in all if they dont come thats fine but i am offering the invitation to them. It is totally up to you thought you might want to put your boss on the B or C list in case someone more important doesnt respond yes.

Re: Inviting people from work
my dept is 8 girls including my boss and i am only inviting 3 of them. i cant take some of the girls i work with...so immature and dumb. most of them started working there after me anyway so im really ony inviting the women that were there when i started. i'm closer to them.
and as for feeling bad....i think they will know why they arent invited...we talk work stuff but on a personal level we would never be friends outside of work

Re: Inviting people from work
I work at a smaller school- but there is no way that I can invite everyone...The people who I am close to are getting invited- but I think everyone else will understand. Most people that have asked me know that we are on a budget...except for my Assistant Principal who was like when should I expect my invitation??? I wasnt planning on inviting him- but i guess I am now!

Re: Inviting people from work
my principal and asst. principal never show up to weddings that they are invited to. So i honestly don't think i wil be inviting them even though I will be inviting plenty of friends from work

Just for equitte purposes..you are not suppose to invite your boss...can't remember why though...Read it in Miss Mannors
Guess it depends on how close you are to your boss

Re: Inviting people from work
I work with 35 people at one job daily and 7 at my second job, all of them have spouses...There is no possible way I can invite them all. I will inviting the people that I get along with best and wont talk trash about what I do at my wedding!! (So that leaves me with maybe 15 people in total!!)

You are right! I just looked it up and it says...
'Should you invite your colleagues to a wedding? I'm firmly against it unless they happen to be friends. It's a personal event. It's a burden on people who really don't care about you personally. I may like you perfectly well as a co-worker, but I have never thought enough about you to have any interest in whether you're happily in love or not.'
Thanks.. hmm I need to think about this.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I'm inviting my 4 closest friends from work & maybe 2-3 from the office that I am really friendly with. I just remembered reading it awhile ago
Re: Inviting people from work
I am trying to avoid the whole inviting people from work thing by just not inviting anyone (I work in a department of about 30 people), and I figure if I invite one or two - then I would have to invite all....
