Inviting someone 'Plus Guest'

Inviting someone 'Plus Guest'

Is it just me or is it completely rude that my FH was invited to HIS BROTHERS wedding plus guest? I'm totally insulted that my name was not on the invitation. What do you all think?

What do you all think about who should be invited +1? I think we'll try to invite only those who are married or in serious relationships with a guest but we'll put both names on the invite to avoid insulting anyone. Thoughts?

You are completely right! You always right the name out unless its a guest that may be a stranger. The link below has all the info you need on addressing invites...look towards the bottom....

Re: Inviting someone 'Plus Guest'

I found out the 'and guest's name' and wrote that on the invitation and on the escort cards.
If there was truly doubt about who would attend as a 'guest' then I wrote out Ms. Smith and guest.
It's a little detail that means a lot.

I would be seriously offended if my future BIL would refer to me on as 'and guest' , but could it just be the poor judgement of your future SIL ?

i only wrote guest if they were single adults and could possibly bring a date..

I would be very upset and insulted also. You are engaged to his brother... how could they not put your name on the invitation???

We found out the names of the people that were in a committed relationship and wrote that on the invitation. The only ones we used 'and guest' were the ones that didn't have a significant other and we didn't know who they would bring.

I would write the name of the person that they are bringing if I know them and that they were together for a long time especially if they are engaged

Thats a little messed up but maybe there's a reason!!
Do you know his fiancee???
I sent out an invitation to my husbands cousin and addressed it to Todd and Stacy....p.s his wife's name is Shannon!!
oops
Maybe that's why they didn't send a gift.

I'd see if your FH can mention is to his brother...just to remind them that you have a name and it's not 'Plus 1'

hahah thanks everyone for your support. I think this is just yet another example of how my (ugh) FSIL is going to make the rest of our lives uncomfortable and miserable. There are issues that obviously go beyond this chatboard. But thank you, your suggestions and comments are very helpful!

Yes rude your correct in your feelings.

Try to not let it bother you - even though it does.
store it for memory for future use.

My DH and I did not invite & guest.
If you were not living w/one another or been together over 3 months we simple invited them as a 'single'. We explained why (though we shouldn't have too) That meant everyone's FULL name is on the invite and place card!

Part of the reason besides $$$ is we didn't want our wedding to become larger than it was - & the numbers were pushing already at 200. We also wanted our affair to be personal with people we knew and not a bunch of randoms. We sat the single guests all together and they had a ball! Two of them are dating now!

We did have on issue w/a friend as he didn't agree and respect our wishes and as a result we lost him as a friend. Mind you most of our 'single' guests new each other anyway. If we had made the exceptition for him we would have had to make it for all the singles. It was very unfair.
You learn who people are during weddings. You will see during this whole process.
Good luck!

uh yes, that is rude! i can't believe they didn't put your name on it. you are engaged!!! when my brother got married, my sil made it a point to tell me how great she was that she put my FH's name on the invite, like it was such a big deal. i was like, uh, yea i would hope that you would put his name...its a given, imo!

Re: Inviting someone 'Plus Guest'

Oh boy this topic hits home....

over the summer, FH and I were invited to our friends' wedding. He was in the bridal party so the invite said Mr. Matthew X and guest. I was so hurt- all 4 of us are friends, there is no reason my name should not be on the invitation. At the time, it was only 5 months to our wedding- which that groom was also in. So DH called the groom on it and was like etiquette says that if you're not married, you don't get your name on the invite. I thought that was ridiculous! All of my guests who were with someone in a serious relationship got invited to our wedding- with their guest's name printed on the invite.
