So, my best friend and I were talking about a mutual single friend that we have and the subject of inviting single friends to the wedding with guests came up.
My best friend said that it's 'wrong' to not invite a single person with a guest that is over 30. I totally disagreed and she said that she thought it was 'bad etiquette' to not. I totally got all pissy because I took it personally but I still don't care--I am not inviting single people to my wedding with guests. Not because I want to be b*tchy, but just because I do NOT have the room.
And plus, I kinda don't want just random people at my wedding--I dunno.
what is YOUR stance on this issue?

Re: INVITING SOMEONE WITH A GUEST...
I always felt that the right thing to do is invite single people with a guest if they are 18 and over. You give them the option b/c they might feel more comfortable with a guest or you just might not know they are dating someone.

Re: INVITING SOMEONE WITH A GUEST...
I am inviting people with a guest but I have the room so I don't even have to worry about that part of it. I think if you are inviting someone from OOT then invite them with a guest and if the person will not know many people than with a guest. If that person knows many of the guess than I wouldn't worry about the and guest.

Re: INVITING SOMEONE WITH A GUEST...
Truthfully, I understand where you are coming from but I disagree. I feel like it is poor etiquette to not invite them with a guest. I jus tknow I would feel SO uncomfortable at a wedding in which i was the only one of my friends without a guest/significant other. We are inviting all of our single friends with guests..our feeling is it is the right thing to do. I say if you can squeeze one more then I would do it!

I was on the side of no single people invited with a guest, but I have been swayed to see the other sides and guests will be invited to our wedding.

Re: INVITING SOMEONE WITH A GUEST...
I'm inviting each single person with a guest. My wedding is extremely far from most of my family and friends and I don't want the single people (especially the ones who might not know many people that will be there) to have to come all the way out and feel 'alone' the whole night. I agree with you - I don't want complete strangers at the wedding - but I'm hoping that single friends and family will use good judgement in who they invite to a wedding.

Re: INVITING SOMEONE WITH A GUEST...
if they wont know anyone, then they need to be invvited with a guest... otherwise, no... IMO
but then again, coming from a person who has a close knit grp of friends where most are single... it makes it okay for us

Yeah, I am inviting people who won't know anyone with a guest, otherwise, I am not.
FH and I have primarily single friends and we ALL hang out together, so for the people that are single in that group, I'm not planning on inviting them with a guest.
If I had more room (and more money), I'd love to accomodate EVERYONE---but until then, I gotta do what I gotta do.

that makes sense..if it is a group of primarily single friends then I definitely agree with you...if it is one person who is single while everyone else is not, i say invite the 'and guest'

Re: INVITING SOMEONE WITH A GUEST...
I don't have this problem but I agree with you. If I had a space and/or budget issue, I would invite singles without guests so I could invite people I actually KNOW and not random strangers. FH thinks the opposite and it would be a huge fight.

Re: INVITING SOMEONE WITH A GUEST...
In all honesty, I am inviting single people with guests. The woman I work for recently told me that she was invited to a wedding without a guest and she didn't enjoy it and I kept that in mind when I was working on my guest list. That being said, if you don't have the room, you don't have the room. People will just have to understand.

I agree, but then I got to thinking-- Isn't it so weird how the people you are really NOT that close to get invited with a guest and those you are CLOSE to, don't!?

Re: INVITING SOMEONE WITH A GUEST...
FH has some single friends that hook up with a different girl everynight! we agreed that those ppl we are not inviting with a guest unless they have someone serious at the time cause we dont want some random girl at the wedding and we dont have the room to be honest. Plus his friends know other ppl there so they will be fine. That was actually my FH's idea. On the other hand, I have some single family members but I am inviting them with a guest. I guess it depends on who it is for me

Re: INVITING SOMEONE WITH A GUEST...
we're inviting everyone with guests because we feel it is the right thing to do. we also feel our friends will not bring random people just because they can! when we looked at places, we made sure to include guests in the number. you never know what may happen. one month your friend could be single, in 6 months, they could be hot and heavy.

Re: INVITING SOMEONE WITH A GUEST...
im going through this right now too
my room holds a max of 140 but i dont want more than 125 just for comfort issues. FH has a lot of family....and most of our friends are single....why do i want some random schmo at my wedding?
